McCarthy was highly successful with challenges against the Cowboys.

The odds of a coach winning a Super Bowl....then winning another with a new team...are pretty low. Just saying.
I'm just an MM observer here to educate Cowboy fans regarding their new coach.
BTW did you know Mac's oldest daughter graduated from high school in Austin?

The Zeke Contract is looking worse and worse to me.
Yeah because this 2019 Packers roster is EXACTLY the same as last year's.If it’s McCarthy year 1 or 2 I agree with him. If it’s McCarthy year 12 or 13 like it was Garrett year 10 I’m not so sure. It’s probably not a fair comparison TBH. McCarthy got 4 wins in 12 games with a team that a first year coach just went 13-3 with. I think McCarthy’s 2018 was as bad or worse of an effort as Garrett’s 2019.
I heard him yesterday and he said he was surprised. Surprised that Jerry would go for him, as he is a no nonsense coach. He said he’s the closest thing to Big Bill out there.
So did most Packers fans hate him this much, or are you kind of an outlier?
Interesting—after the hire I asked my buddy who’s a diehard Packers fan about McCarthy. His first comment was “he won’t give up on the run.”I don't see McCarthy committing to a heavy run game. One of two things will happen, IMO. Either he will get pass happy with Dak and Zeke will become a much smaller part of the Offensive game plan or Dak will fail miserably and McCarthy will be gone because he failed to develop Dak. Now if that later happens, I don't see us moving on for a good 3 seasons, which basically puts Zeke at the end of his career, in terms of being able to dominate. I just don't really see the contract working out.
Bob Sturm has been great to listen to these last 2 days about McCarthy. He said he has watched every single snap of both McCarthy and Garrett's career. He said he wrote an extensive article in The Athletic on McCarthy. Starting with his younger years and how he got to Green Bay. I wish I could read it.
In this past segment, he shot down these comparisons of him and Garrett and I had no idea how different they were in their approaches. Here are a few differences and some of the stat rankings may be off a little since its off top of my head.
On 1st and 10, Jason was 1st in the NFL running the ball. McCarthy was 32nd.
On 4th and 4+ in the first 3 quarters (Bob took out the 4th quarter ones due to desperation), Garrett is pretty much dead last in attempts and McCarthy is at the top.
While Garrett has only coached 76% of McCarthy's career, he has less total challenges than McCarthy has challenges won. That's pretty crazy. He said Garrett was way too conservative with challenges and took the approach its better to save them and then a lot of the time, that time never came so they were wasted. 45 total challenges in 10 years seems very low, seeing as you get 2 per game x16 x10.
On 2nd and 10, McCarthy was towards the top of the league in passing the ball. Garrett was towards the bottom.
That is the biggest difference for me. The approach on 1st and 2nd downs. 2nd and 10 was a running down for us. Never failed. And we would always get into 3rd down, many times 3rd and long. McCarthy actually prefers to pass on 2nd and 10. Now lets see if that changes now that he has Zeke and Dak as opposed to Rodgers and no real run game.
Bob said 2 of the biggest reasons McCarthy gets the label as being a Garrett like conservative coach is a few instances. One being the 2014 NFC championship game against Seattle. Where he kicked a FG on 4th and goal from the 1. They scored on 5 possessions before the 4th qtr and only had 19 points. 1 TD and 4FGs. I remember that game and he definitely went the route of Turtle Tom and tried to run the clock more than trying to actively win the game. I thought that was a huge blunder. They should have easily won that game.
And the other instances is he had a tendency to get conservative in playoff games.
But he definitely does not run an antiquated early 90s offense like Garrett.

One guy went to Princeton riding on his dad's coat tail and then got everything given to him without working for it. Including his coaching career
The other worked at the Pennsylvania turnpike toll booth to support himself while working as a coaching assistant for free to get his foot in the door.
One got a free ride, the other worked himself up the coaching ladder. White collar vs Blue collar.
That should tell you the difference between the two psyche.
Yeah he might also call designed screens with Zeke and Pollard, which are pretty hard for the defenses to defend.I don’t recall him getting a hard time
Seems like he quit around the time he couldn’t link to his articles anymore. Which was a really stupid move by his employers IMO

I didn’t say it does. I specifically mentioned that the argument of whether to pay RB’s or not is still an argument to be made.
what I’m saying is. McCarthy being hired doesn’t mean Zeke will be any less productive or part of the offense, than he was with Garrett as HC. Production can come in various forms.
If I'm McCarthy Zeke is on a very short leash. A bit of time to get with the program, and you better, or I'll find a way to pull a Hershel Walker deal. Jimmy all over again. No favors. Straight football. No clownage. No dogging it. U clown U out. U dog U out. U putter u out. U pout U out. U be stupid in public places U out. Be absolutely elite. He was paid to be absolutely elite. Zeke who? Show me. For the record I think Zeke is elite but it's going to take a hell of a coach to see it again. Because he is a lazy clown. Sign of the times. I give him 2 more years here at best really.
