Dak with McCarthy

Prescott is an unrestricted free agent and it has been reported, that he wants to be paid on the higher side of the QBs. If the Cowboys QB doesn't agree to what the franchise is offering, he will hold out and then the franchise will slap the franchise tag on him. Here is the problem.....

McCarthy is going to install his own offense scheme/plays. Prescott is going to learn a new offense and is going to have to get with McCarthy to learn the verbiage. More than likely, Dak will be wearing a wrist band for the 1st time, as he gets used to the change. PLUS, pre-season is going to big huge to learning the process, but Dak can't do any of this unless he IS IN CAMP from the beginning. Delays in getting into camp, learning the new playbook, will set him back.

So the pressure on the franchise, the head coach and the QB is to get this contract done ASAP to get this learning going.

If he does this he is selfish. Hopefully Dak is not selfish and does what is best for the team and thus himself.

The heavy lifting and initial negotiations were done during the last season already. Dallas said "We will give you a really good contract" and his agent said "I will see your good and raise you a great".

That posturing is out of the way and the team finished on a down note, so the difference in their negotiating positions isn't that far apart at this point.

Drafting a QB in the first couple rounds should take care of this issue

I agree with this. Cooper Rush isn't the answer at backup. We need a QB who can at least be a competent backup and at best could be competition for the starting position. If Dak asks for too much, let him walk and we go with the new guy.

As Brett Favre said, McCarthy was around other QB before going to GB, like Joe Montana in KC. However McCarthy did not try to make Brett into Montana he looked at things Brett did and tried to maximize Brett skills not try to mold him into something he was not. I expect the same with Dak, I don't think McCarthy will try to make Dak into Rodgers or Brett but will go over the entire season and look to fit much of the offense around things he feels are strong points in Dak game.

Dak is no idiot like Zeke. He would never hold out. At true leader vs a true selfish turd.

New coaching staff, positive attitude doesn't make me think he will hold out. He never really complained much during the year and I would have to think the fresh faces will keep him motivated. If not, tag and trade up for Tua

That all makes sense but Dak will be FT and he will either show up to camp or be behind..

I say to get this done quicker Non Exclusive tag him and let he and his agent have dose of reality when seeking other teams offers to his true market is. When no other teams make true offers that also would include 2 1st runs picks to the cowboys, they will come back to the table ready to deal...

They believe they are worth 35 and i for one think the way he played down the stretch says otherwise.. im with the Fo they offered a 30mil team friendly deal and they balked at it but thats what im bringing back..load it with 5mil in incentives, real incentive not showing up to practice and starting games but say each playoff win, an NFCCG, and SB appearance and another with a SB win escalator. That will earn him 35 if hes not injured and accomplishes each of these escalator bonuss’ he can get his money..

If he feels dissed in some way because the DC want to offer him 30 , he needs a dose of reality.. daks young enough to get a third lucrative deal...so whats the holdup other then ego?

So he can become realistic and sign for a more team friendly deal, sight the FT, or hold out..

If he holds out which i know the FO will bring in a vet journeymen s backup vs rush and that QB will get to learn the offense quicker and be ready to start..

Dak is not going anywhere. McCarthy has expressed ---EVEN BEFORE SIGNING WITH DALLAS--that would enjoy working with Prescott. Dak just doesn't come across as stubborn person. Sure, he will want to be paid, but not won't seek being the highest in the NFL. Jones didn't hire McCarthy then cripple his new head coach with a QB that is going to hold out.

Brett: And I go back to when Mike Holmgren and I first started working together (in Green Bay), Mike called plays that Joe Montana and Steve Young ran very well that maybe I didn’t read as well or was very good at executing. And so he had to adjust. And I think that’s exactly what Mike McCarthy will do with Dak. He’ll find a way to make it work for both.”

No QB has ever held out and he would be doing that over 32.5M? He could kiss the endorsements goodbye and the image damage would be complete and irreversible.

No agent would have a QB1 hold out or he would get blackballed by the owners. They will stand for just so much but the QB1 not at practice, camp or on the field except for injury or an excused absence is unacceptable and every agent and QB1 knows it.

Booger received death threats when he wouldn't pay Emmitt, what do you think the Texas good ole boys are going to think about a QB not showing up for 32.5M? Prescott would wreck his career and few think of him at that Tier 1 level now, or capable of reaching it. The man has built his image as a leader and team guy, no way he would even consider holding out.

Add to this a new HC and new offense being installed and no way this gets to that point. And their effort to get him signed and not tagged will be revealing about how much the new HC values him.

I think they get a deal done for one main reason. They've seen first hand how easily this team is distracted and affected with a HC in his last year and a holdout at RB, they can only imagine that situation with the QB and leader.

Besides that, does any FO blink more than the Cowboys? Every agent knows their rep for being round heeled.

I don't think he would have taken the job if he thought he had to go and find a quarterback. No matter our opinion on the qb ( I wish they would move from dak btw) he is here for the long haul and McCarthy would not have signed up if he didn't believe in him.
