Whatever your feelings on free agency one thing that is certain is old Packer GM Ted Thompson absolutely hated spending money on it. That point is really here nor there, just pointing it out as to what coach Mac was dealing with all those years.

If you really look back at his time in Green Bay I cant stress enuff how many offensive lines, r.b stables, and even W.R corps had to be cobbled together thru the draft and STREET free agency. Packers were always fantastic at pulling W.R's right out of their buttholes as if by magic! Year after tear after year. Same with offensive lines really. Actually I'd love for mac to bring his old w.r coach in on staff, pretty obvious the guy can get young inexperienced players ready to go in a short time. Granted.....sure helps when you have Favre and Rogers at QB but still.

Pretty sure Mac has got to be looking at the talent we already have on hand like a kid in a candy store and I dont blame him one bit. The more you think about this hire.....the more you feel good about it and the more it makes sense. If we can just get this defense right the sky is the limit!

When you have a great qb then they will make a WR look good. Much like brady can do.

Someone having great success at something, especially finding a way to produce at a high level when dealing with inferior parts should never be downplayed or discounted. Its fine to say o.k....prove you can do it again, I get that,....But to downplay it or brush it off,.... not hardly.

O line? R.B's ? I would certainly say that having a track record of turning chicken schett into chicken salad is most certainly better than not wouldnt you agree?
Not arguing about the rest. Just that a great qb can help WR look good. But not a rb. And if your O-Line dont block it blows it all up.

Oh, trust me. He is seduced by our talent.

I believe he is, just about any coach would be. Fact is , for the last ten years or better we have ran out a collection of losers and bunglers when it comes to coaching that have continually wasted and frittered away much of the talent that was brought in by draft and free agency. Really a damn shame the resources that have been wasted over the years. So glad that crew is gone, just wish it was much earlier. Nobody did LESS with More than those fools.

Curious to see/hear if Stephen Jones still thinks of Free Agency as the devil or will they be more willing to spend with Mike at the helm.

EXACTLY....If a wr doesnt do his job the o line still can, if a t.e doesnt do its job the o line still can, if a r.b doesnt do his job the ol still can,... if a qb doesnt do his job the ol still can. BUT....... If the O.L doesnt do its job, none of the others can. LOL

Most of us don’t study opponents, just watching our own games, but I think most will agree that what I remember isn’t GB’s Rodgers dropping dimes on covered receivers (though certainly capable), but I felt he always had WRs and TEs running open in our secondary. That’s what I’m hoping to see from McCarthy’s scheme.

Im waiting to see if the scouting department operates the same does MM have more say, whats going to happen.

I will say this since we have no knowledge yet. MM is setting up his staff, which is great, whether i like the staff or not, hes getting his guys . I like that part. After the staff does he want FA to set up teh draft, or the draft to set up FA?

Im sure hes looked at the team, "here is what i want to concenrate on, these are the players i think we can get in FA?" on and on. Its going to be telling how he goes about it. So far, if he dives into FA his way, im all for it, let him have his say. If he believes in McClay, at least its his choice. I want the HC to be running this.

Mac inherited Donald Driver (Pack's all-time leading receiver and starter in 2010 SB). Then Thompson drafted the following WRs:

Greg Jennings round 2.
James Jones round 3.
Jordy Nelson round 2.
Randall Cobb round 2.
Davante Adams round 2.

Ted Thompson can be blamed for a lot of things that went wrong in Green Bay.

He cannot be blamed for not getting McCarthy sufficient talent at WR.

Yep. Can’t be stated enough. Haters point to Rodgers when it comes to McCarthy’s success. BS!

McCarthy was there with Favre and the smooth transition to Rodgers. McCarthy was a team player when he wanted talent to continue, but Thompson and FO wanted draft only which caused a dramatic drop. You need both to facilitate.

McCarthy wasn’t the Packer’s problem. Wasn’t Rodger’s problem either. He became the scapegoat. Here in Dallas, we know all about that.

remember laurent robinson, patrick crayton, terrance williams. QBs can make receivers look better than they are.
