Would you be for or against Witten getting a spot on this staff?

I think this organization would be better off without HOF ghosts lurking. Fresh start. Not saying it couldn't work, just seems like a break would better serve everyone's interests.

are some of these posters here getting confused with Witten the possible coach... vs Witten the continuing player?

You wouldn't think of his high football IQ and knack for the game, with the way he continuous collects yellow flag penalties with these false starts and illegal motion, etc.
but I hear from several testimonies from players and coaches, how he is like having a coach on the playing field and how he leads, guides and teaches players of all offensive skill sets
improving awareness, preparation, techniques, assignments and adjusting on the move.

I think I heard one from DeMarco Murray that if a key rookie or vet player wants to learn the game right and quickly, go to and always stay around Witten.
And take in his vast experience with the TE role alone, which I think he'd immediately be one of the very best in the NFL, and not just in the pass game but in-line blocking as well.

I imagine most people will be like oh hell yes da Pope do it but would anyone have an issue with the Cowboys (Jerry) finding a role for him on this new staff to begin his grooming?
No problem.

I have been saying he came back to coach since the day they said he was coming back.

Witten has all the ability to communicate the position.

With the change in offense under MM..

Witten is going to have to burn some midnight oil when it happens.

I bet he has a little vet-type ptsd syndrome about him....finds it hard to get back to "normal" life.

I'd put him on the staff as an assistant to a positional coach. Sure, why not?

Give him a couple years to ease into coaching to get a sense for whether he's got chops for it before considering him for a position coach spot. Or scouting if he'd rather go that route. Whatever.

And in the meantime, he's a famous name to be able to put on the phone when we're scrambling to recruit people after the draft. The bigger guns like the GM and head coach and coordinators can only be on 1 call at a time. Having an assistant deeper on the coaching bench who has a famous name and who will be a Hall of Famer, and who kids grew up playing with in Madden? Can't hurt to have an extra recognizable guy to be able to put on the phone with undrafted kids.

Please, no more promoting people just because they are in the family. Fortunately, most of the family has been dismissed.

I want Witten's security code/ card changed. I don't want him to have access anymore.
