I still believe it was a catch, even by the 2016 rule book...………….but, whatever.

There were still 4 min left in the game, plenty of time for Aaron Rogers.

We would have still lost.
yeah many people equate the failed catch to why dallas lost.
When GB took over at the 2yd line, they drove the ball right out, and seemed
like they could have drove for a TD quite easily.
So had it been ruled a catch, and we got a td and lead, GB would have scored again
used up clock and won anyway.
The pass that cobb didnt catch, was ruled a catch also, but that is why you
have to have a strong team to overcome any crap ref rulings.
Good grief try to be up by 28 points at end of games, so any crap rulings dont matter.

It was the biggest moment of the Garrett years.

That's because we had the great JG and his great clock management skills.

Exactly...……people act like that was the final play of the game and if it was ruled a catch we would have won.

There was still 4 min left in the game. Does anybody seriously think we would have kept Aaron Rogers out of the end zone for another 4 min?

Please, we would have lost in the final seconds just like we did in 2016, so the catch really doesn't matter to me, we still would have lost.

This will never die...one of most infamous NFL plays ever, and I do agree it’s a catch. Just watch again make sure, haven’t seen for years since. Should be 1st and goal half yard line, instead of that idiot ref going he didn’t maintain possession. I see ball cradle and moving but not touching ground, and he’s down at that point. Doesn’t matter if he got up and bowled the ball in the end zone for a strike butt naked...the play was already over. What is this based on style? Because that’s all that fake rule said to me. Well I just didn’t like the style of it,so it’s not a catch ~sincerely your good friend Blandino the Weeino

It was a question that needed to be asked.

McCarthy said:

"It was a great catch, I can say now. It wasn't then - technically."

That's all we needed to know!

Technically under the rules THEN it was ruled not a catch. The rules changed and now it would be considered a catch. McCarthy said the truth as he knows it and I applaud him for that. To continue to whine about that catch/non-catch now is senseless.

What you both aren't getting is the mechanics of the rules at the time. You had the general catch rule and then there were rule subsets that basically functioned as exceptions and those rules took precedence over the general catch rule. The going to the ground rule is either a yes or no question and if yes, the ball can't touch the ground and come out. The official on the field didn't see the ball hit the ground because he was shielded from it, but the replay showed everything and it was ruled as such.

As for the 2015 rule wording change, nothing about the rule itself changed. Time was always part of the elements of a catch so that was nothing new. You jump, land, and immediately get the ball poked out, there's not enough time to declare it a catch. That's always been the case. So despite whatever conspiracy trying to be created, nothing that happened from 2015 onward to the recent rule change was any kind of coverup. If you understand the rules as they were written (and the average football fan couldn't, which is why they re-worded it), you know it was the correct call at the time and all the way up to when they removed that subset rule taking precedence over the general catch rule. There was no "spirit of the law" being missed. It was always a yes/no determination. The field official missed what replay caught, which was that the ball hit the ground and came out of Dez' grip. By rule, that's a done deal and no catch. Dez needed to do all he could to secure the ball and take the 1st and Goal. Didn't happen.

Dez took two steps and then DIVED to try and reach the end zone. By that point, he became a runner.

Seriously. I mean, it's almost like he's on a Cowboys fan site after they hired the guy who was coaching the other team during their most controversial play of the last decade.

What a weirdo! It's not topical or anything!
Let’s talk about how they even got they even got there. Oh...but the Cowboys never get calls go there way, even though there’s three penalties that should/could have been called here and if it were the other way around there would still be fans crying how we got robbed. Hypocritical cry babies.

Jesus christ...get over it.

This, even if that scores wholes up, all they needed was a FG to win and we had shown no signs of being able to get to a one legged Mr. State Farm all game by that D. It was plentiful watching him carve us up with one --- leg.

Exactly. He made the catch and switched hands while coming down. Took steps and dove out making a football move. It was a catch. The refs screwed us the way they screwed the lions the week before. We held that guy. But the lions game when it happened it was a 3rd down play and our game it was a 4th. But I am over it. Lol.

For some reason, I saw Murray's fumble in my nightmares more than the catch.
That’s only because it changed the game. He don’t fumble and he could have been gone. Changes the way both teams played the game.
