Where does Garrett land?

I didn’t create “ 2nd winningest coach”. Several newspapers and publications have.

And if you want to use those percentages then Wade was as good as Tom. And Jason was better than Jimmy or Bill. Surely you don’t believe that?

Garrett is actually 4th if you rank by number of playoff wins.

I'm mean, isn't that the true measure of how good a head coach is, how many games in the playoffs he can win? surely you do not rank playoff wins and regular season wins equally, or do you:eek:

Exactly. He's the 2nd longest tenured coach by far in our history. Of course he is going to be 2nd in wins. I would hope he is. Doesn't mean his win percentage is the 2nd best.

This simple concept does not fit the Garrett fanboys narrative that Jason was actually good and just had bad luck not advancing in the playoffs.

Hey, if that is what they have to tell themselves so they can sleep at night, I am not going to ruin it for them.

The people who do the hiring won’t consider Garrett’s results mediocre because they’ll look at them in a rational context. He will have to overcome the bad PR associated with his name right now. But his reputation in league circles will mean that’s not a huge issue. He’ll get interviews on reputation, and he’ll interview well. Worst case, he sits a year and then takes a coordinator gig through one of his contacts and weathers the bad PR.

I really don't see any evidence of Jason Garrett having a great reputation in league circles? If he did, wouldn't you think, he would, at least, have a coaching tree in the league. I don't believe under his watch in 10 years he has elevated one of his coordinator to a nfl head coach job. Even Marvin Lewis has a coaching tree in Jay Gruden. Thinking Jason Garrett reputation will get him another head coaching in the league is a giant leap at faith.

Exactly...………….Jay Glazer, who is more connected in the league that just about anybody, reported Garrett was campaigning for his job.

Garrett didnt want to leave, he literally is hanging out at the Star telling Jerry how great a guy McCarthy is. So please, nobody stopped Garrett from doing jack.

He is not getting any head coach offers right now because he constantly goes 8-8, not because he got blocked by Jerry from interviewing.
These dudes think they can say anything on here and its gonna fly. smh

There was a time after McCarthy was let go in the middle of a season when folks thought he was a long shot to get the next gig. And he just landed the biggest job in football and everybody is praising the hire.
Coordinator gig is his best case scenario. I like how to cover your bases with the worst case scenario though. For a guy you claim is such a good coach how in the hell can he take a year off and not get a job the following year? When has that happened to a good coach ever? Stop hedging your bets. I bet anything that clown doesnt get a head coaching job.

Yeah, I highly doubt Garrett will get a HC job in the near future.

He is going to have to rehabilitate himself by starting over at the OC level and working his way back up the ladder.

I heard rumors that both the Giants and Panthers were interested but now they both have filled their HCing positions what is left for Garrett? The Browns? They had interest back in the day when Garrett was still our OC. I don't think he will land another HCing job this year but he will land a coaching job somewhere. Any guess on where?

Anywhere is better than here....

Garrett's results are not mediocre?

Over the course of a decade he made the playoffs only 3 times, won only 2 Wildcard games, and finished almost half his seasons 8-8.

If that aint mediocre, I dont know what is.

You’re including performance for the rebuild of the 1-7 team he inherited. He won his division three of the last six years, and did it with two different QBs, winning a CotY award along the way. He’s a good coach.

I’m just going by what’s regularly reported when the issue comes up. A fair bit was made about it at the league meetings last year as well.

Yeah, but I don’t give a wet fart what you think.

I’m not hedging anything. I mentioned the follow-up roles common to most former HCs in this league specifically because they’re most likely.

Why SMH? I've been a fan over 45 years and Garrett's time as HC have been a waste. Who cares if I'd rather never lay eyes on him again and many others seem to feel the same way. IMHO this change is long overdue
You can disrespect the coach but not the man.

I would imagine he will take a year off. Time helps when someone wants to reinvent themselves. At one point, Cowboys' fans loved Garrett...a long time ago. I could see him returning as a HC for another franchise.

I read lots of garbage in the media. Sounds to me like, you're just trying to defend your boy Opey.

And if you want to use those percentages then Wade was as good as Tom. And Jason was better than Jimmy or Bill. Surely you don’t believe that?
That's a false equivalence, & ridiculous. I said, he wasn't the "2nd winningest coach". Which he wasn't. The coaches win %'s back that up.

Jason couldn't hold Tom, Jimmy or Bill's jock. Two are deservedly in the HOF. Jimmy may at some point. Jason Garrett will never get a gold jacket, unless he suddenly starts buying suits from the same tailor as Michael Irvin. Even then, it won't be from Canton.
