But then again, how "simple" it is to run through evvvvverrrrryyyyy assistant coach the Cowboys have ever had, and examine whether he had been an HC before seemed not so simple, and it makes sense sometimes to appeal to the community's historians to grant their insight. :D

pretty freaking simple on a number of sites (e.g., pro football reference).

I mean you would have had to go back what? All the way to 2014-2015 to figure that out.

As it turns out, yep.

And somehow, I still don't feel as ashamed as what evidently I ought. Which I suppose is yet another character flaw. Despicable me.

McCarthy was Nolan's OC in San Fran and Philbin has been with McCarthy for years. These guys have worked, had success together, know and trust one another on a coaching level. Jim Tomsula has big time credibility as a d-line coach and who knows if it's Nolan that wants him for his scheme or McCarthy in general. I'm pretty sure it's a combination of all 3 wanting to work together on that front.

In Garrett's case there was history with the other 2 but not like this case. Plus there's history of success with McCarthy's crew in the past, Garrett's was hope and the process.

We all need something to do to fill our time, @TexasHillbilly . For some, it's spending time bumping up threads that they deem to have no intelligent purpose.

The irony escaping them, of course.

And hey, just think of how upset he'll get when I ask if we've ever had 4 on staff... :D

Sometimes one can't do the research for various reasons. At work or posting from their phone and can't take the time or risk the internet usage at work.
