how how about drop percentage? if I have 3 drops and 20 targets, thats very different than the nexy guy that had 13 drops with 150 targets.
I agree that's important - really more so than just the number of drops. I didn't see a website that shows that, and I'm certainly not going to calculate it out for all the receivers to know how everyone ranks.
As I think about it, to really calculate drop % you would have to know how many of the targets that weren't caught were catchable passes. I would have no idea how to find that info even if I were inclined to do that math.

I know coaches want their own staff but all the coaches being put in the road shows exactly how incompetent this entire staff really was.
I don't think that's true. Don't most new HCs brought in from outside pretty much clean house?

It is important that McCarthy surround himself with a staff he knows and trust. All coaches know when a new HC is hired there is a good possibility they will be fired. These are not newbees to the coaching profession.
It's a balance. The downside of surrounding yourself with guys you know and trust is that the thinking can be stale and it can be harder to keep up with the times: groupthink sets in. That's what McCarthy was accused of his last couple years in Green Bay. I'm glad he retained Moore for that reason; I think they have the potential to be great partners. I'm hopeful that we'll see some more young blood as he fills out the rest of the staff., the guys who will bring fresh thinking and can be groomed into the next generation of coordinators.

I really think Sanjay Lal was a quality WR coach, - and I think its' more to that " conflict" with Cooper than just the Philly game. (sorry but I'm starting to have doubts about Coop)
but just as I liked Columbo too as a position coach, the new HC clearly wanted his own set of guys in.

Per Mike Fisher - 105.3 the fan on his reports: the Cowboys (management) did present the asst/positions they were making a "suggestion' to keep, but eventually they were ' Nah " out-ruled
by McCarthy so management gave in (caved in?)

Early indication, this doesn't sound like its gonna be a puppet coach atmosphere. o_O

You can't have it both ways: if coaches always clean house, then the guys being fired isn't really a reflection on the competence of the existing staff.
Coaches don’t always clean house. In our our case it was especially needed because most of JJ’s hires for the past 24 years have been incompetent. How else do you explain 24 years of this circus? It was the blind leading the blind. So yes, it does work both ways.

Lal should be brought back as an assistant coach.

did you see that costly drop by one of the best WRs in the game last week against the Eagles? You think coaching had anything to do with Julian Edelman dropping a crucial 6 yard pass that would have been a first down late in the game? Hey, which WRs coach consistently has the lowest drop rate in the league? Im thinking if i coached cris Carter, id be considered a damn good Wrs coach.

I said in my post that it is NOT entirely the coaches fault but when ALL the WRs are dropping passes and getting in bad habits. That is coaching to me. When I played baseball it wasn't my coaches fault when I struck out or got in a slump but if I was doing something wrong with my swing or mechanics he would point it out/remind me and help me fix it in some way to get out of the rut.... Same principle. That's what coaches are for.

I coached competitive fastpitch for 20 years at every level. My kid was an all conference player that tied an NCAA record with 4 hrs in one game. Players strike out, and if you are a high level player, it has nothing to do with swing mechanics. You swing at **** pitches, or you are just not good. I assume the WRs in the NFL are all pretty good and can catch passes. Coaching is not going to make a player catch or drop passes. If it was that simple, all players would have cris carter hands.

Ok, so it is ALL the players fault... I get it. Why do we need a WR coach at all then? What's their purpose genius?

they work on getting in and out of routes, study film to show them where they should have broke a route, what they should do when QB scrambles, how to sit down in a zone......they can show them if they are not extending hands, letting balls get into their bodies... whatever. But ultimately, all WRs coaches are likely about the same.... and NO WR will ever be the reason why a team has good or bad WRs.

anyone shocked that a new HC wasn't going into come in and overhaul it all , doesnt pay attention..this is NORMNAL and expected.. there were those not wanting jerry to force old coaches on the new one, said the new one should pick the groceries and thats happening and some have issues showing stats

well of those near 3 1k WRs where were they in late November and all December?

how about list off the stats of those losses in NE, BUFF, CHI, and Philly..they went MIA for whatever reason and thats why we were 808 Inconsistency at its finest..2 3game losing streaks and beat one above 500 team and that was a run fest in the rams game, Dak and the Wrs had zero to do with that win..

too logical for some of you? we needed change and its happening... KM staying is nice as he will be groomed for bigger things and he had more to do with it then a WR and RB coach..

who cares what type of stats our offensive players had, stop crying that MM isnt bringing in his own guys.. the players will remain the same so it wont be huge drop off as most think..

the good ole boy country club is now closed :)

I feel like Sanjay did a good job this year. With that being said, I’m really liking how McCarthy is handling business. Inputting his own staff exactly how he wants it, what more could you ask for?

Is this what it felt like with Jimmy Johnson in charge? :D
No. Jimmy was replacing a legend.
