Typical of how the players reacted and dealt with this FO, guy holds out knowing he needs surgery to force Jerrah into paying $$$.
Then spent the entire season jawing after each loss while playing against backups and promoting the “hot-Boyz” or showing off his purchases with his $$$ on social media, heck even buying scooters for his teammates instead of laying it all on the field...
I don’t buy the bs about stats not showing everything, this guy was the “court jester” on this team when he should have led by example with his play.

I hope they can light a fire under him but I seriously doubt it...leaders and great players step up to the challenge with their actions on the field not flapping their gums in between games.

Lets see how DL and the others respond to a real defense.

yes i was down on DL long before he got paid, but who knows now.

MM has really brought some excitement to the team.

At this stage really hoping that Nolan and his assistant coaches can light a fire under one of the most disappointing players in 2019, Demarcus Lawrence. He forced a cap hit of 21 million last season and produced 5 sacks on the season? We paid for elite and got trash. 5 sacks, all other top pass rushers in the league even getting double team still produced while Lawrence play was pathetic. He did a lot of jawing during the season yet was never a game changing factor on the season. The man needs to rededicate himself and play to the level of elite
The crazy thing, he supposedly played last year with a shoulder injury. He got that fixed in the off season and had his worst season since his rookie year.

The truth is, D laws a great run player and a solid pass rusher. He can dominate average o below blockers when singled up. He doesnt have the talent to dominate double teams. He's under talented. He ran 4.8 while weighing 250. Now he's 266. He relies on technique. He can't afford to lose anything athletically because of his lack of speed. he is what he is.

This thread is ugly...

Dlaw is a good football player who got paid a huge contract. Dlaw used the only leverage he had, holding out to get paid before having his surgery. If I recall he said he wouldn’t have the surgery without a contract which for the situation was the right move. I’d bet 90% of the people crying in this thread would do the same.

It was pretty obvious he struggled from the rehab and wasn’t as good as he should’ve been. Now we are hearing there was tension with how the front 7 and the backend were being called could also have caused his numbers to drop. I saw an opinion twitter ( I think John Owning ) said that he thought that Quinn got the production because he was just tick faster than Dlaw.

I think there was a lot of frustration on that team due to the coaching chaos that appears to have gone on. Should he have been paid what he got? It’s debatable, but it’s done and it’s his money not anyone else’s after all this is a business.

I’m excited for what new wrinkles this staff is going to bring and I have a hunch Dlaw is going to have an outstanding 2020 season being healthy, able to participate in all the off-season programs and TC.

I don't begrudge him the money I expect a guy making 21 million the highest paid player on the team to bring a bigger impact. When you see numbers drop on him as they did after getting the big payday it is frustrating, when you go into the season expecting him to continue to get after the QB with big help coming from the other side and he fails I'm sorry I will call it out. Dallas was 19th in sacks this season that is not good enough it is not what should be expected and sure as hell not what they were paying 21 mill for. I have no said he should be cut, I have not said he should be traded but I have and will say more should be expected of him. It is pretty sad seeing people defend the play when the numbers tanked from the past 2 season and after getting exactly what he wanted money wise. He talked a lot during the season but did not back it up where it counts

One of the most unlikable players on the team. I don't know how anyone can like this guy after the stunt he pulled to get his contract.
well said! The guy held the team hostage by NOT having a procedure done soon enough. THEN he demanded a huge deal...and the team and the fans were woefully disappointed. Finally, the guy takes to twitter in a selfish way pushing his merch 24/7 and telling us how great he is and talking smack. NEVER BACKED ANY OF IT UP ON GAME DAYS. Yup, the fans didn't buy his snake oil and it wouldn't bother me to see him traded away. We are very likely moving to a 3-4 and he wont fit. NOW we may have a good excuse to get rid of him. TOO MUCH TALK AND NOT ENOUGH RESULTS. It would send a message to others on the team as well. MM means business. Tomsula wont tolerate him long. A trade for Jamaal Adams sending DFLAW to the Jets straight up would be my dream scenario. What do ya think? A contract for a contract essentially. We fill a huge need and we can draft accordingly.

I’m not trading a pass rusher for a safety. He’s not great, but he is good enough to get doubled.

You do realize that by trading Lawrence that Dallas would immediately incur a $36.9M penalty against their cap due to dead money, right? The earliest Dallas could move on from Lawrence would be after the 2020 season where his dead money is $15M, a cap savings of $7M in 2021, a cap savings of $24M in 2022, and a cap savings of $26M in 2023.

Frankly I hope it does not come to that. I would never had posted this if I did not believe in Lawrence ability. I called him out because I know he is capable of better play than I witnessed this past season. I want to see Lawrence go out and show the play he was displaying in 2017 and 2018. I think if he can get back to that and Dallas can get Quinn under contract that we can become a force in terms of getting after the QB.

LIKE your USARMY AVATAR btw. Our son is a newbie in the US ARMY. He's a little homesick but is very close to graduation at AIT. Proud of him. Thanks for your service btw.

Playing devils advocate. He did have off season shoulder surgery and I am sure that this impacted his effectiveness. Now, next year is fair game....

Meh. Besides La'el Collins and MAYBE Gallup, everyone underperformed this year. Even Dak is underperformed since he decided to regress during the Pats game and every game after that.

Richer than you. That's what.

Do Zeke's thread next.

Then Jaylon's.

Then, in a separate thread, crap on Cooper and Dak because they're GONNA get paid.

We get it.

Zeke is a top B in the NFL
Jaylon isnt paid like a top LB

Lawerence is being paid like a top DE and he isnt close to being worth that money - Cowboys overpaid for a decent player and overpaid a lot
