No HC likes nicknames unless earned. The Rams didn't name themselves the Fearsome Foursome or the Vikings The Purple People Eaters or the Jets Gang Green or the Cowboys Doomsday Defense or the Steelers The Steel Curtain, they were all named by sportswriters or announcers. Even Miami's No Name Defense was named by the writer at the Herald.

I do not recall which writer dubbed them Doomsday, might have been Blackie Sherrod for the Star or Luksa for the DMN.

I predict he won’t give a rat’s behind about that or any other nickname. Just win. Nicknames worth keeping ARE EARNED. Like “DOOMSDAY DEFENSE”. That was earned and it stuck because of their continued excellence.

Excellence is the father of good nicknames. “Hot Boyz” is a joke IMO.

Seriously, McC will ignore this nickname, as he should. It's irrelevant.

that'd be up to Nolan and the defensive coaches..

if they asks nicely to concentrate on football and stop giving yourself a name until you've done something..they might listen..if its demanded and forced to get rid of it, could be an issue, I mean what can coach do?

from what I heard and hope its not true TomT is an enabler and likes this stuff, hope im wrong but hes a players coach. like to be their friend..something Marinelli is not and Marinelli put up with it..

Can we please be done with any nickname for any unit on this team! We haven’t been relevant in 25 years! Nicknames are for Champions! JJ has made sure we haven’t sniffed one in a very long time!

I hope MM doesn't waste his time with trivial things like this but considering the fanfare that has been given to the recent ST coaching hire, even trivial things will get the squeaky wheel grease. :rolleyes:

That is just fan worship..

Do not think it matters to the HC.

He has much more important things going on.

The likely hood anybody else but Tank is on the team on the DL and Crawford is still here seems remote.

A hard seller. Like granite hard seller. The Hotboyz monicker for those turds is beyond ridiculous.

To be clear Taco had the same number of sacks with a fraction of the snaps as Lawrence. If Lawrence sucks to start next year it will be clear he played for a contract. He has talent for sure but his self evaluation doesn’t match reality.
