If anyone is wondering why, I heard an interview with Zeke before the draft where he said that no coach had a greater impact on his game than Drayton. I wish I could find the video, but he said something like he Drayton was the coach who made him the running back that he is.

Drayton is already getting paid quite handsomely by the Longhorns, that alone makes/shows how hot a commodity he is ..adn will be in the market.
should he decide to stay with Horns ... or allevate to the ranks of the NFL.

it will not only be a matter of a rapport and close relationship with zeke, .. but also a hope that Drayton can help develop the ability and skill set of the backs, .as well as adding suggestions in revamping the run game scheme as well.

From Drayton it wont be just " up the middle ' runs or we shouldn't keep seeing zeke tap out at the 19 yard line to get a breather,
He's gonna have a heavy factor in how the backs will handle themselves in both the run and the passing game.

You’d think staying in TX and playing for more money under JJ, tutoring his old protege would give us an edge

Hopefully this gets done when JJ invites Drayton over for a spend the night at his mansion

Well, I'm sure hoping we give Stan Drayton the welcoming he'll never forget. This team needs a motivator like him to supply what it takes to instill the kind of desire that he did with Elliott. Here's hoping Jerry and Stephen give him every cause to come to this organization and stay here for good. We need men of character like that to convey what it takes to make the most of their lives and careers. ~(fingers crossed)~ Let's keep this man in Texas!

Looks like it's time to get some popcorn ready and wait to see how this turns out.

Could be the best of the assistant coach hires under McCarthy. I like all the hires so far, but Drayton will convince me that Jerry and Stephen were actually both sober when they decided on M.

I kept hearing how he was as slim as hed been since college last year, but he still didn't have the explosiveness of 2016.

I think thats all BS. Hes a bigger guy now. It felt like he lost a gear in 2017 and he hasn't been the same since. Great RB, but not the same player.
