Expect Moore to be next. No reason to keep him since Moore would also be learning a completely new offensive system..

McCarthy = Hybrid HC and OC

Moore = Hybrid OC and QB coach
I would not be surprised that McCarthy does make Kellen moore taking over the qb coach's duties. the new oline coach that McCarthy had in joe phillbin also was a qb coach and offensive coordinator.

I think MM has enough skins on the wall as a developer of QBs. He can't have that many voices in the kitchen if he is going to have access to Dak, and getting this young QB to adopt his play calling style and expectations.

This was a no-brainer. He can't have anything come between him and his QB other than a MM disciple spouting off MM religion.

Love it or hate it, an offensive minded HC has to be close to his QB, and anyone who is in his QB's ear has to be on the same page as MM.

This = Kitna is out.

Nice analysis

Except for 2 position coaches all the head coaches since Jones bought the team have hired their own staff. Jones has been a more hands on owner being the GM, but he's let his coaches pick their staffs.
.

Jones hired Jason Garrett in January 2007, a couple weeks before hiring Wade Phillips to be head coach under the presumption that he would be the offensive coordinator. So while you are mostly correct it was more than 2 position coaches... and honestly we have no idea what occurred with Moore's promotion to OC last off-season.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=2758164

"After Jason Garrett interviewed for the vacancy Jan. 25, Jones hired him to an unspecified role on the coaching staff. It has been presumed he will be the offensive coordinator, but Phillips said he didn't want to discuss Garrett's role until he had a chance to talk to the former backup quarterback."

Kitna was not needed. Kellen can assume QB duties since McCarthy will do the playcalling. Kitna was always a Garrett thing anyway.

Regardless of what you think of Kitna it's refreshing to see our head coach truly pick his own staff.

I wish I could wrap my arms a quarter of the way around McCarthy right now and bury my head in his bosom.

He was average IMO. Average in my opinion isn’t good, especially in the NFL at the QB position. He’s average and we shouldn’t sign him is my opinion.
Mike says you're a liar......and the two schmos that liked your post.

All these coaches are infected with the Garrett suck virus, you got to clean house and kick all these 8-8 losers into the nearest dumpster.

Yeah, this news saddens me a bit. I thought Kitna did a nice job with Dak and would have liked to see that continue.

The biggest thing a new coach wants with his staff is loyalty and the only way he can ensure that is by bringing in guys that he trust, that have his back. Holdover coaches could have an agenda or have an established relationship with JJ and/or Stephen that could cause MM to have to look over his shoulders.

He’s not the GM.
It does not matter if the coach is the GM or not.

The Head Coach should always have complete control over the coaching staff.

The GM hires the Head Coach and manages the roster (draft, free agency, contracts, etc.).

The input by the HC on roster management varies from team to team.

All Head Coaches should have complete control over which players play and over choosing the game day inactive players.

In Green Bay the GM handled the draft, free agency, etc.. McCarthy was just the Head Coach.

I think he did at first until Dak seemed to regress a little. But maybe MM's system requires something a little different than what Kitna knows. Who knows?

He'll probably have Moore install motion into his offense then move on next season. The lack of motion was something he talked about need to improve, so it makes some since he retains Moore for a year

I think Nussmeier was in the running for OC last year.

With McCarthy having his own QB schools, he probably has QB coaches from past years to draw on, already trained in what he does.

Too bad. I like Kitna, but won't complain given McCarthy's extensive QB coaching himself.
