Do you think LVE gets back on track?

I don't know much about neck injuries... had leg snapped in half and ankle dislocated and plate and screws in that...

But, if he doesn't get fusion, which I thought they said they didn't need to do. I wonder if you still retain movement in your neck?

I can't see a LB doing well that can't turn their head, without turning their body.

Let's be honest here, LVE has not having s good year before he got hurt

He had a really good rookie year than crash...you guys think he gets back to his rookie form?
If he fully recovers from neck surgery and with new defensive coaches, yes. Should be better than ever.

Michael Irvin's injury was in 1999. There have been significant improvements in treatments and surgeries in the ensuing 21 years.

We're talking about 200 to 400 lb men crashing into each other all year. LVE needs to consider what his quality of life is going to be like after football. There's no amount of money worth being a paraplegic til you die.

If the treatments are that much more advanced, why wasn't this taken care of in college?

According to the article in post #38, the Cowboy's medical staff have ruled out any correlation with the injury he had at Boise State.

Is the same staff that failed to detect he had spinal stenosis before they drafted him?

Yes. We know what a dumpster fire the coaching was on that side of the ball this year. McCarthy and Nolan will get them playing fundamental football again and we will see a successful return of the Wolfhunter!

McCarthy’s not a defensive coach and his defenses in Green Bay usually stunk, but okay.

No I think his neck injury is a bigger deal than they are letting on
That was my concern when we drafted him.

In a lot of ways he reminds me of another Sean Lee. When right and healthy there's nobody better but the lingering injuries keep them from reaching their full potential.

Nobody question his ability when right but there's a reason why so many teams removed them from their draft boards because of his neck.

Mike Nolan will get this kid and Jaylon on top of their game. Prayers he is going to be healthy.
They are going to be used to their strengths now, unlike that 20 year old Defense

Isn't this the same condition that caused Irvin to call it quits?
You got it! This kind of condition doctors recommend not playing the game anymore. This condition is genetic and cant be fixed having surgery.

having dealt with my own neck injury for the last 20 years, I can say this without hesitation. NOTHING is guaranteed. Everyone responds differently to therapy and surgery. SOME never come back to what they once were. LVE may never be the guy he was his rookie year. I am sure our new HC is well aware. The contingency plan going forward will be open competition, the draft and free agency to sure up that area. The days of putting all our eggs in the basket are over. MM always preaches next man up, and it will be put to the test I think early in 2020. ALL the playoff teams right now have this mentality. It starts with a plan, then the draft. I am focused on players we can draft now that help us year 1...no more "potential" crap.

Won't see a second contract or 5th year option picked up. If he plays 10 games next year I would be shocked.

Both our linebackers are very good. But when you have the worst DT's in the NFL that gets your linebackers exposed. You put a few stout DT's in front of them and these guys will be allowed to make plays all over the place.

If you’re an athlete and have ever been injured, you know there’s a huge mental hill to climb post recovery. This injury will be a difficult one to recover from. It will change the way he plays. It was evident this year...
