Can we afford to trade a 1 for Jamal Adams?

Imo it doesn't make sense to trade a 1st for a proven talent that you have to turn around and pay if you end up losing proven talent from your own roster. That's 1 step forward, two steps back. Cowboys are better off paying their own guys and and hopefully drafting a quality player with that pick.

I d rather see if Cleveland was interested in moving Myles Garrett. After the last 3 drafts trading for an impact player should be considered.

I mean yeah, I think every team would go after Garrett. Why the hell would Cleveland trade the most dominant young pass rusher in the game though?

Im sure he’s a great leader but his play making “ability” is not all that great.

Id rather not spend a 1 on a strong safety. There is a reason the NFL doesn’t value his position but in Dallas we pay RBs 15 mill a year so who knows.
Adams is a downhill SS who has good range in coverage, but he doesnt have a nose to TO's. He is an elite player, but how worth he is to you is dependent on how much you value a catalytic downhill SS. If you want TO production, Adams isnt your guy.

I do agree that Minkah is a bettee fit for what we are missing

We tried to trade for Adams before the season began but the price was too high, I'm sure the Jets havent lowered their asking price and our FO i not willing to pay the asking price. Pipe dream like the ET to Dallas endless threads.
We didnt try to trade before the season, it was the trade deadline

The team needs as many non $15-20 million guys as possible.

This is spot on. We’ll likely lose Byron because we can’t afford to pay everyone. Bringing in Adams would only make that tougher. There are good safeties in this draft. Let’s do our homework and find one we can put to work on a rookie salary for the next four years.

The coach doesn't like him and he doesn't like the coach. Many believe this will force a trade and the price will be lower than it was at the trade deadline.

And, we got gashed many times over the last two years by runners. A great SS immediately helps stop this.

As the great Tuna use to say, can't have filets are every position. We need to be able to put some Sirlion's out there also and make them taste like filet.

We can't take on another contract of the size he is sure to sign. We have to draft well.

Rams - Gurley deal looks terrible

Vikings - Good player but already has torn his knee

Titans - They’ve had Henry forever and finally started using him this year. I’m not sold he gets a mega deal.
Well then looks like so far we have the best back so money well spent lol

In Nolan’s presumptive hybrid 4-3 defense that is more pressure-based, Jamal Adams would be the perfect playmaking SS, with Woods the ballhawking FS. No doubt, if he’s still on the market, Jets will ask for our 1. But with the CB and DT talent available at 17, and likely losing Byron and Maliek, and also having to pay Adams soon, can we afford to trade? I doubt it, but I guess it also depends on free agency targets at S, CB, DT. Thoughts?

We “could” but the better question is should we? I would say NO. Once guys get paid they seem to disappear in Dallas.

So I am going to go with “NO” dog.

No we should not be doing that we should be drafting somebody for one I don't like his attitude of course he had a little bit of attitude when the Jets tried to move him without telling him but I just don't like his attitude

Safety is the least of our concerns with this defense. We're in need of two linebackers, two defensive tackles, and two cornerbacks.

I just don’t think he’s worth it for the production you get.

If Byron walks I think we probably need to be in the cornerback market anyways.

What kind of production besides All-Pro do you expect out of a #1?

Hell no. There are guys like Vonn Bell, Clinton Dix, Anthony Harris, Karl Joseph, Damarious Randall that can be had in FA. And theres the draft.

Jamal Adams you would need to trade picks, and still sign him to be a big deal.

The problem is he is a Strong Safety.

If I’m going to pay a position that doesn’t make a lot of splash plays then it’s going to be an Olineman.

Strong Safeties just don’t have much impact on games. He’s a great player but he doesn’t provide what we need and that’s a playmaker. He’s just a solid guy that will demand a truck load of money.

Pay guys that make plays.

The move was Minkah Fitzpatrick. That opportunity came and went.

His stock was never going to be lower then what it was.
