Should I Be Worried About GB's Success Right After McCarthy Is Fired?

That whole time we heard from Rodgers is being held back by McCarthy. Soon after he is fired, they are back in the NFC championship with a coach with no real experience. I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of their break up but the fact is, they are back to the top of the NFC right after he left.

And I was a big fan of the hire fyi.

it’s hard to say for sure but I would think that the Packers moving on from Ted Thompson and changing their philosophy on free agency might have more to do with it than a coaching change

Absolutely.

They fire the coach and they are 1 game from the Super Bowl? Ummm yeah that should be a cause for concern.
Lol seriously? ..they ate a running team and got really good Defense....under McCarthy..They didnt sign free agents...the GM would allow it

an average seahawks team on the road is the biggest issue here. They had zero running game and an offensive line that struggles.

of the 8 teams this weekend the seahawks were number 8.

If they can somehow win at SF then maybe there is some form of validation, but catch is just basically against mccarthy so he is going to ignore stuff he knows to push his point.

Green Bay's new coach hasn't been the difference maker in their Super Bowl bid.

The main reason they got this far was due to the defensive boost that they made.

No need to worry. The Niners are gonna McCarthy McCurbstomp them. Which sucks because I truly loathe both teams.

Actually, it is not that hard to say and what you said is 100% correct Kwyn.

Whatever his shortcomings, Mac's biggest problem in GB was a GM who failed miserably to stock the roster with veteran talent.

Many people were calling his scheme dated or stale. He couldn't get along with Rodgers, etc. I know Rodgers is a diva but LaFleur seems to be doing alright with Rodgers.

I think Big Mike just refused to change because he was so successful for many years. This is the same guy that was called an creative offensive mind when he was hired by GB, and was also considered a top offensive guy for years. I feel confident that he can be successful again now that he has time to reflect on his mistakes.
Lafleur and Rodgers are doing ok right now because it's their first season together. Just like a relationship, everything is great for as little while. Once you hit adversity is where we see if they are making it.

I agree with you, you made very good points

Just one question for you,
do you feel better with MM for next season, or would you prefer JG
back and feel dallas would do better with JG?
No matter what I think dallas will be better , play better , and be in playoffs
next season, and who knows maybe we play GB, and see what happens there.

I think KC will win it all. Personally I would rank the teams just, how they have played in the playoffs so far..

KC
Tennessee
49ers
Packers
It might be KC, but I am gonna go with Tenn, to beat KC, and SF to beat GB
and they will be in SB SF VS TENN.
Tenn beat the super team in their own stadium, only 12 points lol.
I think they will shut down
KC too

Could happen. Tennessee beat the Patriots and number 1 seed Baltimore. Tennessee beat KC earlier in the year at KC. If Titans get a 24-0 lead on KC it's over cause they will run the ball.

They looked exactly like they always do.. Jumped out to a lead...Let the other team climb back in...got a couple bs calls ( like they always do ) then made some huge 3rd downs...I don't see anything different from any of their other teams. They will not have the same success in SF...SF's defense is not broke down like Seattle's.

Nope, they're a different team in a lot of ways, especially in the area of personnel (see their defense).

their defense got gassed by Seattle..What will they do against a good offense that can run the ball ?

McCarthy is the first to admit that he needed to step away for a year and modernize some of his thinking and offense.
Coaches
But don't forget, GB went to the playoffs 8 of his last 10 years, and went as far as they have this year as recently as 2016.

Anyway, the investment in defense this past offseason is the main reason why they're better. They made some nice moves in FA and in the draft.

I suspect SF takes them next week though.

Why worry? That won't do anything. Why speculate for the worst? We got what we MOST wanted....JG gone a new regime. Let's hope for the best and roll with it.

And still with GB not getting FA’s and injuries all over the place, just like Philly this season, they beat us twice under JG. Once on the road with Tony, and once at home with a rookie Dak.

GB never invested in ANY Free Agents nor did they have a good running game or defense
Rodgers stays are dramatically WORSE without McCarthy ...and GB probably wont beat 49ers so Rodgers still wont have another ring....Team is deeper & better but QB play hasnt been as good
truth :hammer:
