Do these stats shock you? #1 Passer Rating, #1 Reception % in the NFL?

Ward was having the best camp of all our UDFAs in 2018. We traded him away to the Chiefs on Aug 30, 2018 for OL Parker Ehinger. We cut Ehinger April, 2019 without him ever appearing in a game.

OL needed players as stats above. IIRC KC wanted Olumba, and the staff said no, so the took Ward. As Olumba was actually having the better TC at the time.
We got Pat Ehringer who was a better player than Ward. But then he injured his knee and was released after the draft.

Can't really blame the FO or the coaches for this. But yet many will.

Because we needed OL depth with Fredrick getting hurt, and while he did play well he was behind, Jomes, Awuzie, Brown, and Lewis. He was at the time an extra in a deep secondary.

Ehinger doesn't play center. Plus the Chiefs were reportedly planning to cut Ehinger the next day but the Cowboys initiated the trade.

You had a DB showing some promise, and two DBs (Brown & Jones) entering FA a year later, you probably should have held on to him.

On this one, you certainly can.

He probably played well in camp and Garrett and this laid back attitude didnt want him to ruffle too many feathers- we already had starters and so we couldnt let their feelings be hurt by an UDFA playing major time.

It sounds shocking to write but it probably has some truth to it.

In hindsight, yes, at the time, no. Except for the fact they had no idea what they were doing, as the case in many things. :lmao2:

I see it as another draft miss. They trade the wrong player or draft the wrong player (Watt vs. Taco type thing, or Thornhill vs. Hill)

But still other teams do this as well, just as not as much as Garrett teams.

It was a short sighted move considering Ehinger was about to be cut and you had Ward under cheap control for 3 years during a time that a couple of your DBs were about to enter FA. The kid was better than Olumba in '18 and was slated to make the team before the trade and had the profile that KR wanted. It was a weird move and we lost this trade badly.

Because obviously the Will McClay/Jones Family braintrust is superior in acquiring, developing and keeping talent...
When it comes to wheeling and dealing, Jerruh is second to none in the entire NFL.
A true football genius he is.

Had to look back and yea we went lite on corners, 4, and went with 5 safeties out of the 53 man roster in September.

Martin had a knee scare prior to the regular season.

Swing and a miss by the staff there. Parker was a starter but injuries derailed his standing in KC to the point of being on the outside looking in.

It's yet another shining example of screwups under the Garrett era. Yesterday's game was a reminder of several.

Travis Kielce, arguably the best TE in the game. But we drafted Gavin Escobar instead.

The aforementioned Ward, while we stare at a secondary that doesn't make plays facing yet another rebuild, while Ehinger never played a snap for this team.

And then seeing JJ Watt out there and being reminded of passing on his brother, a first team All-Pro, for Taco, a 2017 1st round pick that we got nothing out of.
