"We don't have Pat Mahomes so we shouldn't try to be the Chiefs" is a ridiculous take.

He makes that offense capable of scoring touchdowns on 7 consecutive drives. But the system and those skill players would work with any good QB, including Dak.

Incorrect. The system didn't work (well enough I might say) for Alex Smith, hence why they moved on from him. Alex Smith was about as good as Dak. Mahomes is just an elite talent in a good system. Switch Dak and Mahomes and no way would you get anywhere near the same production.

We should try to follow the suit of the Chiefs. We're in a very similar situation they were in in 2017. Pay the mediocre/average QB that can't win with good tools around him or take a risk at the draft?

Alex Smith isn't a capable QB.

They also didn't have nearly the talent at WR.

I assumed this original post is aiming at the offense only... because we certainly are nowhere near where Titans are on coaching, defense and special teams.

First off, no way in any hell we could have ever shut Lamar Jackson and Ravens offense down like Vrabel's defense did.
Much as been talked about Ravens and Pats defense, but Vrabel's Titans defense has proven a helluva lot

And it's fabout coaching and scheme.
*Game management, decisions, preparation, making in game and halftime adjustments, the HC making both asst. coaches and players accountable.
* there's no me before we, ...there's no players defying and going against the coaches play calls, plans and wishes, players tapping out for breathers in critical red zone.
* there's no confusion in all phases and areas of the team (HC, defense, offense, and yucky pecial teams)
* no rifts between coaches and eventually players giving up on the coaches, ..
* there's no key critical players mysteriously sitting it out on the sideline 4th and 8yds in red zone with the NFC East title and playoff hopes on the line,

- As far as "built like Titans' , that goes in according to coaching and scheme. - you don't see Derrick Henry lined up in RPO shotgun formations
and taking RPO draw-play handoffs as the means to fuel the run game .. you see him lined up deep in one back formation and getting hand offs from under center.
They want him seeing-sensing the developing holes early before he gets to the line, and they want him to have a chance to build head of steam momentum.
they don't resort to anything else that is not his strength. They stay with what he does, ..until you can prove capable of stopping him.

Coaches play to their best players strength. they don't cur away from that for the sake of creation somewhere else.
and the Titans don't abandon the run either. You don't see 12 carries in the first half ..and 3 carries in the 2nd half.

Titans; Chiefs; Packers; 49ers... we are most built like the Titans right now. What do we need to do to improve and be even better then them. They remained me of the our 1014 and 2016 team but we had Romo in 2014 and Dak in 2016.

No we are not. When have the Cowboys been so one dimensional as the Titans? This is a team playing the hot hand, this is not a sustainable way to compete in the NFL.
The last time a RB was this dominant in a playoff run was John Riggins in 1982, that is actually the first SB i can remember... But that last comment is neither here nor there.

You would be right to see the similarities. Actually, I would argue that the Titans patterned their draft\team building approach after us. They invested heavily to fortify their OL and running game after seeing our success. What they have done better is get some big nasties up front on the DL and of course way better coaching than what we had for the last decade.

yup, they had 3 games in which they scored 10 points or less, just like us

We are more explosive on offense, zeke doesn’t dominate like Henry, and their defense is better than ours.

Titans offensive line is better than ours theirs is what ours was in 2014 and possibly 2016 ours is declining. Id take henry's speed over Zeke but Zeke isnt a slouch. Our defense is worse than all the teams left in the playoffs with the possible exception of the cheifs

TItans have one of the best DLines in the league. We're not really built like them at all on D.

Kevin Byard is the best FS in the NFL. Vaccaro is very good at SS. Our S's blow.

We do not have a back like Henry who can completely take over a game like he has. Also there may have not been a better QB the final 2 months of the season than Ryan Tannehill.

We certainly don't have the defense to hold the Pats and Ravens in playoff games to a combined 25 points?

I guess what i'm saying is we don't look anything like the Titans.

If Vrabel had been our coach the last couple of years, Dallas (the offense especially) would look like the Titans do now, and we might still be playing.

Right? Henry is a freak of nature. Nobody that big should be that fast.
Meanwhile, we are hoping Zeke loses weight so he can be hopefully as fast...

Remember that draft when people wanted Ramsey/Henry in the 1st and 2nd?

I'm old enough to remember that.

Our defense is not even close to theirs, though. They forced the issue. They made Lamar turn it over 3 times. They also stopped two 4th down and 1s. Essentially 2 more turnovers. You think this defense is capable of that? Not even close.

I'm one of them. You just don't take a rb that high in the draft. You don't have to b/c there are plenty of capable guys available later in the draft.

Terrell Davis.
Devonta Freeman.
James Starks.
Ray Rice.
Blount.
Sony Michel.

Teams having a playoff run almost always have great RB performances.
