mccarthy ran a lot of two TEs when he had Finley and Donald Lee. Same with Quarless and Richard Rodgers

He likes to rotate his TEs

Would did McCarthy have pairing with Jimmy Graham as the other TE ?

You aren't going to be able to fix every hole we have in one offseason unless you get extremely lucky in the draft and hit on like 4 or 5 of their 7-8 picks.

TE might be the spot we roll the die and see how Jarwin looks under McCarthy. Maybe throw some money at a cheaper vet and then see what happens in the draft.

I believe Jarwin has some physical makeup to be a good effective move TE. I dunno if he has elite featured TE level though.
I dunno if he'll ever be George Kittle as he has some physicality and alpha male mentality to his game. That's a featured TE and cornerstone key player.

But Stephen doesn't prefer big spend money on vet FAs so the market looking bland and no help there.
And we have so many dire needs among DL and secondary, i'm having doubts about a top prospects being available early on and i dunno the quality of the depth of the TE class in 2020 draft. .

He can’t block though. Neither can Ebron. I like Jarwin getting more snaps and I think McCarthy will use him well but TE should be a spot they address in the first 3 rounds. They need a more complete guy.

The old regime valued blocking Yes, don't know what McCarthy outs priority on.

Jarwin would have to at least be serviceable, .while we search for another " serviceable' type as a backup, which we have to have in the event of a Jarwin injury.
A lot depends upon how his blocking skill set factors into the way Packers ... uh i mean McCarthy's system uses TEs. Maybe the blocking scheme doesn't require as much
demand and responsibility as the previous regime. Maybe they are not asked to in-line block DEs as Garrett did.

I would like to believe that he could be a much more bigger contributor under McCarthy than what he had to be severely limited to working under Jason Witten.
but how long have we back logged this need for an impact TE ? Not just being satisfied status quo. with a serviceable one.

"He" doesn't. There's no "report" or validity to any of this. This is someoneone trying to make a name for themselves throwing out some names based on connecting some dots. It has no more validity than me mentioning the same about Ebron as a possibility last week.
You were his source.

Judging from the comments, no need for me to view the video.

Passing "rumors" along.....

Here we go again with someone SPECULATING and people are eating this up. McCarthy may be looking to upgrade at safety and maybe the TE but every year there are people who say the Cowboys are going to hit the big time free agent market and they don't. Yes this is the first season the Cowboys actually have some room under the cap but they also have 25 UFA. Now nobody things that they will resign all 25 or even want to sign all 25 but going after the big time free agents always turns into a bidding war and for every one of those big time free agents they sign that 2 or maybe 3 UFA they won't be able to sign. That then means that the Cowboys have to hit 100% on ALL of their draft picks PLUS have to sign some undrafted free agents to fill out their roster because they didn't have the money to sign all of their own players they wanted to because of those big time free agents they signed. The bottom line is this will greatly affect the depth on this team so we better pray that there are no injuries to the starters because it could be a draft choice or a undrafted player who has to step with no prior NFL experience.

Shultz is a jag and will always be a jag.

One of the worst picks because they had to know they were picking a guy with absolutely 0 upside.

they only picked him because Witten ditched us,he cant run at all.

Ebron is also a borderline guy for me.
Part-time player who has had issue staying healthy and offers a good target at TE but doesn't always perform that well with the targets.

And he is pretty pricey.
Spotrac
Market Value
  • 4 yrs, $29,905,840
  • Avg. Salary: $7,476,460
  • NFL Rank: 250
  • TE Rank: 10
All that said, TE appears very weak in this draft and if so the team simply must grab a viable receiving TE somewhere.
I'm still holding onto a pipedream here and suggesting bring Dez and Noah Brown back to compete for that role.
Cheapest options by far and you can target TE1 next year, 2021, in the draft.

I would love that idea especially Dez but im not sure his body could hold up to the blocking part of it

What's wrong with Jarwin? He usually comes through when targeted, now with a new TE's coach who knows..........some of you are just name chasing again.
Did you ever stop and consider that he wasn’t targeted more often when he was out there because he wasn’t getting open?

Offer Gronk a vet minimum contract and 2 months of weight gain, strength training and conditioning on board the Bravo Eugenia every year.

Gronk would be happier with cartoons and Puddin’ Pops...
