I think it is very unfair to judge Richard when you saddled him with Marinelli as the co-DC.

For us to hammer him for failing with this setup.

McCarthy also got info on his disagreement with Bloom. That was not good either for Richard who is supposed to be controlling his staff.

At least you assume that.

But who knows how that pieced together staff really worked.

Errr..problem is it didn't work..did it ?

Which is why its history..huh?

Again..I do not blame Garrett on this stuff

The aborted staff was built by Jerrah's desire.

So he has now admitted with this McCarthy hire his way was not going to work.

Only took 25 years..oh my.

People who want a real GM are going to have to settle for a real coach instead with McCarthy.

At least that is something for now.

Agree...mostly.

First....KRichard was not in charge of the D. He didn't have a staff. Marinelli was the DC.

People were warned about Marinelli for years. KR comes along and stabilizes the secondary and people want to blame him.

I can see why KR hit the escape hatch on Dallas. He's going to USC from what I've read.

Dont know if it's scheme or players...or both, but the secondary has been bad....for a long time. No sleep lost seeing any and all coaches associated with it being shown the door.

Marinelli LOVED the BBDB defense.

Why are you surprised about the lack of INTs?

I like Richard but as I said since the day McCarthy was hire he needs to bring in his own coaches. I would have said that about any HC the Cowboys hired. If you are the one being held responsible then let him hire the staff he trust to carry out what he wants done. Everyone may have a coach they would like to have here but in the end there is 1 HC and he needs full say over his staff.

I have owned several businesses in my life.

At no time did anybody but myself make decisions about who to hire and who to fire.

I used to always sleep on it and the next day often helped see clearly the best choice.

Things that were magnified before had faded by the next day.

Did I make some mistakes?

Sure.

Did I wish I could have a do over.?

Sure.

Did I cost myself money and time?

Sure.

But more often than not I would give them a good recommendation for their next job.

I preferred that as I always remembered more often than not they had wives, kids and mortgages and car payments to be responsible for.

I made sure people understood why they were being let go.

That way they understood it was never personal. Just business.

That way if I needed help, I could call them.

I wish Jerrah and Jimster had that.

Jerrah could have done alot better.

....kinda blows for Richard. Between the LB coach and Jurassic Marinelli he probably got screwed, playing out his schemes. One thing that didnt change was the Db's, never looked for the ball.

I doubt Richard would have stayed after the Marinelli/Bloom mess.

He needs to be a DC.

Rumor is he might get the USC DC job.

It's a loss for Dallas.

He's an elite coach.

i know people love him running around practice in cleats and his intense interviews but thank god. i now understand why seahawks fans were either saying "yay" or "whatever...who cares" when he left seattle.

Yes indeed. Carroll is one of the best and didn't want him. That says it all. I loved when all the sheep here were going nuts saying this guy was the next head coach. There was talk of dumping Lewis because he was too short to play CB for the great Kris Richard. What a crock. Glad he is gone. That defensive staff was terrible.

Seattle wasnt to enamored with him either and they had a better coach/defense
Yeah..

I never got my arms around why he was available in the first place to us.

He was certainly looking for HC openings and Garrett looked very vulnerable.

But the defense reversed itself in 2019 as we know.

Not sure if it was Lawrence and his surgery or Wolf Hunter and his neck injury or just a breakdown b/w the coaches and players.

But I have not seen us reverse so dramatically since the reversal from 2017 and the 6-10 season to the Eastern Conference win in 2018 with 10-6.

That's alot of difference.

And Richard I thought in 2018 was a slam dunk as a HC for us in 2020 for sure.

Now its McCarthy..

The defense was actually ranked higher this season.

KRichard took his super bowl ring and left.

Who can blame him.

Marinelli and Bloom were train wrecks.

When you agree to work for a trash HC, you better know your reputation will take a hit

Our coaching staff was so weird this year. Especially on the defensive side. Such a bizarre system
