What are we doing at Backup QB

I know all the focus has been on keeping Dak, tagging or signing, but a question that keep popping up in my mind is who is the back up? Most new Coaches like to bring in someone that knows their system. only 2 that MM has that are available are Brett Hundley and Joe Callahan of Callahan auto parts (tommy boy joke), and Neither of them have done anything... Hundley got MM fired and Callahan is a JAG. Orange Crush did nothing for me and most of you on this board. so do we spend a top 3 round Pic on backup when we have so many Holes to fill. im spinning my wheels linking about this. we know Dak is here for better or worse so who's his backup?

By the way this draft is top heavy in QB but nothing worth a lick after top 6-7 guys. at least 4 of them are worth taking in 1st or 2nd round and other 2 -3 in 3rd but literally all the tape i've watched on bottom guys are JUNK and should not even be drafted.

FA: are we really going to bring in a Marriota or Winston, that might challenge Daks ego same goes for a Broiles or others that were drafted high.

Give me some names that strike confidence we will have a decent backup in 2020.
We got to do something that's for sure I don't think Jameis Winston would be an answer for one he's looking to start which may not happen but I don't think he would be good for this team if Josh McCown wasn't older than Moses and probably under contract he would be a good fit or someone like that

Not true, but regardless, the point still stands. Tony was not fragile when he was Dak's age.
He was 26 in 2006. I was close. had first injury at 28 then big one at 30 and it was then all down hill. So we had 2 years of injury free romo lol

I dont know do you? I guess we wait and see..

those guys will be drafted because theres not a lot of QBs available..

how about Hurts late third or 4th? he might be an interesting project

might be easier to go grab a journeymen..

Will you still be high on Daks toughness if he blows a knee or breaks his collar bone this coming year?

I think it depends on how the draft falls. I think the Cowboys will TRY to find a QB to draft somewhere in the round 2-5 range. Most likely 4 or 5.

I think we will try to draft a young guy with upside. Rush is not that guy, IMO.

Still will be cuz i seen him take shots and get back up. Took a harder shot than wentz did and got up and kept it moving.

If he’s not too expensive, I’d like to see Mariota signed. He’d be a good backup with a lot of experience. I’m sure he’d like to still be a starter, but I’d like to be rich and have all my hair back. I don’t see any of these three things happening. There’s one or two teams that MIGHT sign him as a temporary starter such as Cincinnati. A team like that might start him just so their newly drafted QB doesn’t have to start right away. Even then he wouldn’t be paid like a starter.

You are probably right. But frankly, if I could get one of those cheaper than Dak, I'd do it. They should have the chip on their shoulder/I'll prove it mentality.

Deshon Kizer is another name in play. We'd have to trade with Chuckie, and I'm not sure he'd be more than a backup. He started his rookie year in Cleveland and put up rookie numbers.

I do think we’re in need of an upgrade at backup QB and ideally that would be an experienced guy. I don’t think though that Mariotta or Winston would be upgrades to Dak. Dak is still young and showed flashes this year but needs to be more consistent. I think it best to franchise him and let MCCarthy spend a year evaluating and coaching him up. Then make that decision on Dak’s long term future.

Heck yea, who can forget Prescott's performance with an injured shoulder against the Eagles with the season on the line.

Toughness!
