Passing "rumors" along.....

Ebron doesn't look like a big thrill to me.

As for guys we should get for TE, I hope more of what Jarwin was in college - hybrid TE/FB/WR.

Similarly, though I get the feeling that Olawale has some mental/emotional issue that kept him from being used, I really liked the *concept* of him. A FB with hands and speed to go deep. Guys who can contribute both as blockers and as deep threats make for great complements to Zeke and the oline. Good size and speed to just take a handoff or dumpoff too.

Garrett always had the max protect philosophy for TEs/FBs, while I dislike having no-threat players on the field. If I really want blocking, I'd rather just put another olineman out there.

Speaking of which, I hope we see if any of our backup olinemen can run a 3 yard route and catch a ball. I hated seeing three meh TEs inline on jumbo packages. "Next interchangeable cog up." Ugh.

And if I'm going to have dump off blockers at FB/TE, I'll take one who can really block and looks to *pound* DBs instead of going down like a wet sack of potatoes a la Witten. Witten has annoyed me for years with his strolling out of bounds to avoid contact with DBs he had 60 lbs on. I want guys who will take that mismatch opportunity to *punish* DBs. Rico should have been this guy, but he thought he was too much of a Superstar to learn how to block.

So basically, the last thing I want is the Witten/Schultz meh blocking/meh receiving TE. And I want more than just a receiving TE who is nothing more than a big, slow WR. We had that in Escobar. I'd rather go with Pollard in the slot as a RB/WR. In the base, the TE, FB, Slot WR guys need at least two out of three in blocking, receiving, and running.

McCarthy has to do his own player evaluations. The first year with a new coaching staff is always an audition for players. Jarwin will have more of a chance to show what he can or can't do.

We should just plan to move on from Jarwin and get a comp pick out of him unless we extend him *this* year for cheap. He's not a guy to be paying free agent money to. Get a deal or plan to move on.

I wish we'd generally do that with short timer backup players we're thinking about moving to starters. Don't promote a short timer to starter and watch those development snaps walk out the door the next year in free agency.

As great as instant access to information is, one of the negatives of our modern internet and technological advances is that anyone has access to create information.

cant block. Not good for a team that wants to run the ball. Think of jarwin as a wr.

If Jarwin was a good blocker, Witten would've never been allowed to come back. Jarwin would be great if he could block half way decently but by all reports he is horrendous at it.

"He" doesn't. There's no "report" or validity to any of this. This is someoneone trying to make a name for themselves throwing out some names based on connecting some dots. It has no more validity than me mentioning the same about Ebron as a possibility last week.
Great.

Right when I started getting my hopes up.

We should have played Jarwin over Witten and we would know more about Jarwin. Witten can’t block a bucket of spit, so I don’t want to hear any of that rubbish. Witten is a waste of a roster spot.

Witten was only brought back for a couple reasons 1. Cowboys PR machine (sells jerseys and setting records) and 2. Garrett was hoping Witten’s perceived credibility would help him hold the team together. I think #2 was a complete fail. A voice means nothing if you can’t play a lick.

Witten is retired. He did his victory lap after the Commander game. So rest easy. You won't have to see him again until his ROH induction followed by his HOF induction in 5 years.

Can't wait for you to see that Jarwin is a marginal NFL player.

Witten was OK, looked like he was running in mud all the time. Just an old guy...He came back because the team looked good last year but he should have known it was a Garrett-coached team. He should have known what would happen more than most. Time to move on from all that. If Ebron can block and catch along with Jarwin, our TE unit will be upgraded. It's all about price but I do think we are going to need a blocking TE.

I agree. I don't see anything special in Jarwin. He makes a few good plays and some folks on here project that out over a season and then blame Witten when they don't see the results.

I heard rumors that the new coach will be able to pick his own staff. Crossing my fingers hoping that's true.

Offer Gronk a vet minimum contract and 2 months of weight gain, strength training and conditioning on board the Bravo Eugenia every year.
Damn, I like that!! That's the thinking outside the box ingenuity we need!! Bravo!!

Witten is just a scrub at this point. He can’t block. He is OK if you need a one yard catch, but what tight end can’t do that?

I'll never call Witten a scrub. Just a guy holding on a little too long. He did a lot for the Cowboys. You can be a Richard if you want but I'd rather not....

I guess I am more prone to call it as I see it instead of viewing him through rose colored glasses. And really, name calling is pretty childish.
