I agree, both of these guys are at fault for the split. I'm no fan of Jerry Jones on any level but Jimmy did his fair share of pettiness. Jimmy wouldn't toast the success of the Cowboys with his boss in a public place. Petty. They're both narcissistic and 2 narcissists can't survive in the same area for long.

Don't get me wrong, as a fan of 44 years I'm at the point were I pretty much hate Jerry Jones, so by no means am I sticking up for him but Jimmy was not an innocent victim in this thing. I remember going into the '93 super bowl week Jimmy was hinting of leaving. They were both wrong and stupid and childish.
Yep, Jimmy floated the story of coaching Tampa I believe. Jimmy was done mentally, 5 years non stop will do that to you. Parcells was the same way, short stops and then onto something new.

Jerry is best defined first by the last 25 years. And secondly by his incredibly petty stonewalling of Jimmy from the ROH.

Troy Aikman said it best last year, “This is the Cowboys Ring of Honor, not the Jerry Jones Ring of Honor.”
Maybe Aikman should have ponied up the $140m purchase price of that ROH.

They just need to put it behind them at this point... for him to be in the HOF but not the ROH is ridiculous.

Just pick up the phone JJ, and give honor where honor is due, put him in the ROH and take the first step towards putting things right.

That would be good. Don't do it to look like a good guy, do it because it's the right thing to do.

Petty? How does it make Jerry look when he runs his coach out of town after two consecutive championships but keeps Garrett on for 9 years of nothing? Being petty should be the least of anyone's concerns while there's a malignancy present

If Jimmy would have stayed we would have been the only franchise that had a three-peat. But alas who would have thought that the Arkansas hick would have had an ego larger than the state of Texas?
Jimmy wouldn't have stayed long but he probably would have stayed a couple more years. I agree about the three-peat because that 1994 team was better than the 1995 one.

The article paints Jerry as petty, but doesn't mention the fact that Jimmy, in his response to being told he was going into the HoF, gave credit to all his assistant coaches and players, but none to Jerry, the man who hired him in the first place. They've both been petty all along.
Jimmy owes Jerry no apologies.

You don’t hire someone who conquers the world then let them go because your whiney butt didn’t receive the credit you were expecting.

Hiring the right guy should have been enough credit for Jerry. Screw him. We all see what he was about.

Jimmy should have been a grown man and had maybe a few less Heinekens before laughing in Jerrys face along with the assistant coaches that he was sitting with. Jimmy was such a loser that he dogged his wife as he was taking on the Cowboys job and flat left her. Who is the loser in life? Have said it before, I love Jimmy, maybe the best coach that we ever had...Well I liked his style the best, but he was a little crybaby girl that showed zero respect for the man that paid him huge $. Maybe Jimmy needs to come clean and apologize after all there years for acting like a little girl, has he done that yet? Jerry’s ROH, Jimmy gets in when Jerry says he does, exactly as it should be. Maybe the Dolphins will put him in their ROH. Actions always have Consequences...
Not sure Jimmy would have been fired if he hadn't been openly speaking to Jax about being their first coach and disrespecting his boss. And Jerry was equally a little girl in the whole thing. Two monumental egos and both got butt hurt over some stupid crap and torpedoed what could have been the greatest dynasty the NFL ever saw.

We certainly don’t see Kraft trying to take as much credit as Belichick.

I’m not sure fans really are trying to get it. Jerry’s ambitions were outside the norm of owners.

Only to the fans for letting his ego get in the way.

The one who took you there should receive more acclaim. Jerry couldn’t handle that which is in him not Jimmy.
They both let their egos get in the way. People just focus on Jerry's ego because Jimmy is gone. But if you ever saw the Survivor season Jimmy was in, you would have seen just how big of an ego he has.

I’m not sure why some fans believe it should have been Jimmy backing down , not Jerry.

We obviously see who was the difference maker. But that wasn’t enough for Jerry. What owner pulls that crap after winning back to back? Why everyone doesn’t get it I’ll never understand.

Of course Jimmy has the bigger ego cause he’s the guy that was the difference. The fact Jerry needed more credit than just hiring the guy and providing him the tools to do it is on his ego.

Not sure why everyone doesn’t get that ?
