I know.. I meant they better pay Cooper if they intend on keeping Dak.

You don’t get rid of Cooper and keep Dak.. Dak is not affective without him.

obviously he sparked Daks revival, but I do wonder if Gallup and a drafted wr could do similar

He tried to play injured in 2019 and it just didn't work out very well. He had foot issues in training camp. He had a bum ankle the whole season. Severe quad bruise early on. And his knee later on.

The game that sealed the deal from the standpoint of perception was the Eagles game in week 16 where he was targeted 12 times, caught 4, and only 24 yards the whole game. Many said he had been benched at the end but whatever.

I say healthy, he is a top 10 receiver. Maybe even top 5. And should be paid like it.

But can he stay healthy? That is the real issue. The difference between Cooper second half of 2018 and Cooper 2019 can't be ignored.

But only the Cowboys can answer the health question based on what they know.

And they aren't sharing.

Paying him top-3 money is extremely fair lol.

They should be able to pretty easily go 4 years, $72m, $45m guaranteed. That gives him an AAV just below Hopkins, 7th, but the 2nd-highest GTD.

If top 3 money is fair market value based on how his stats compare then yes. If his stats don’t compare with the top 3 then no.

They can’t keep Dak and not pay Cooper.. That is the problem..

It was a massive screw up not signing Cooper last year..

If Cooper is not playing well then Dak is not worth having.

Id go as far as saying that Cooper is the MVP of this team and as he goes we go.

And if we don't pay Cooper, then that's just one more hole we have to fill.

Let's say we make Gallup our No. 1 instead. (Not saying I'm for that.) Who's your No. 2?

Cobb? A situational player at this point, if he's re-signed.

Austin? Also a situational player if re-signed.

Wilson, Devin Smith, Ventell Bryant, Jon'Vea Johnson? Didn't we already try this approach when we let Dez Bryant go?

Pay the man. He runs excellent routes and gets WIDE open. If we had Dez to toss the jump balls to and Gallop to stretch the back side of the defense...

Nobody can cover him man-to-man. Go ahead and pick a metric I don't care. Then adjust for the fact that he had the worst offensive coaching in the NFL. He'd catch 130 balls in a lot of offenses.

"Just left the field" is calling him soft lol. He was pulled off by the coaches.

Two words for you: Stephon Gilmore

Amari Cooper vs. NE 0 catches 0 yards

Of course it is how his stats compare. If you go by AAV, Odell is 4th, Brandin Cooks is 7th, and Sammy Watkins is 9th. Add in a rising cap, and he's easily above those guys based on production the last two seasons.

I like Cooper, huge emphasis on like. I would have no issue franchising him but they better not give this dude top 3 money or even worse make him the highest paid wide out in the league. Sorry to say it, but Cooper is soft as Charming like Kobe once said. I don’t want a guy that takes himself out of games and plays soft when you need him most..hell no.
They will.

I remember last time the Cowboys thought they didn't need talented receivers and could just get by with a bunch of #2s and #3s. That worked out real well... Seems like that's actually what led to us trading for Cooper, but I could be wrong.

I dont know why anyone on this forum gets so up in arms over what Jerry does with his money. The Cowboys are perfectly fine in regards to the cap and can sign/re-sign anyone they want.
