I’m curious how many QBs you guys think will go before #17. How many players with first round grades do you think there will be in this draft.

I think the ideal scenario for us is several go before we pick and a QB is on the board at #17 that someone may want to move up a small amount to get. I would sure like to see us get two more picks in the top 3 rounds out of a short trade back and still end up getting a guy with a true first round grade.

ESPN had a mock draft and Herbert was at 17, believe it or not.

It's a sign from the football gods.

In all seriousness though, Tua may still be there since some teams are raising red flags due to his injury past. After we draft a QB in the first, we spend the rest of the picks on defense and a TE.

That is every teams dream. Picking at 17 makes it harder to trade back and still get someone graded as a 1st round talent.

Burrow, Tua, Herbert and Fromm. Don't know what scouts thoughts are on Fromm. I liked what I have seen from him but granted I have not seen a lot. I think the consensus is that Tua does not make it past the Dolphins. Have not watched Herbert much either but when I did I was very concerned!

It would be awesome to get a healthy Tua or Herbert. Draft him, tag Dak. If Dak wins the job than he gets a huge contract the next year and you trade the guy you just drafted for a first round pick. If Dak loses the job, then you have a cheap QB for a few years.

Based on what I have read from the Cowboys, they are intent on giving Dak a huge contract so this is all moot.

If Tua made it to 17 I would be completely pissed if we did not take him if his recovery was solid!

I love this approach. Im a Dak supporter, but absolutely if you can get a cheaper upgraded QB you have to make the move.

I doubt we'd do this though. Hopefully MM has a lot of input into that decision. Based on what he's already said I think he's already sold on Dak, and would prefer on upgrading the roster at other positions.

I'm looking at Jake Fromm in the 2nd or maybe even 3rd round. He's the guy I would look at if I had a chance to take him later.

Not for trading back unless a few spots, nothing like mid to late 20's, but this is something this team used to do, then pick a player with red flags or injury issues. Thinking they are being cute and clever over all the other teams.

I say used to do, but now with MM as HC, will this change?

Which one would you take between Tua and Herbert if both were there (which I don't believe at all)?

He has the reputation of being a dump off QB as he lacks the arm strength to make the throws outside the numbers beyond 15 yards.

Don’t want Fromm. He doesn’t have the ‘it’ factor at all. Maybe in the 4th or 5th. Tua , Burrow or bust.

The combine will tell a lot of this but that's not what I've seen out of Fromm the past three years. I mean, I heard the same things about Romo, early in his career and I have to say, none of that was true.

Dallas doesn't seem to downgrade players on their board due to injury history.

So, Tua is going to be in the top 3 on their big board, and if he is there at 17, it's simply good business to take him. Figure the rest out later.

Jerry doesnt like to hurt anyone's feelings though

Unrealistic, IMO. Neither of those guys are going to be there when we pick so unless we are planning on mortgaging our draft for multiple years for a QB, that may never ever have an opportunity to start for us, I don't see the wisdom in that.

I don't think Fromm will go in the first b/c he doesn't have upside.

Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Love and Eason could all go in the first, but probably not before 17.
