Well, i don't think anyone really knows the true criteria for the HOF. Jimmy got in, and i'm glad he did. But his longevity in coaching wasn't really all that long. Terrell Davis got in too, and he wasn't in the game very long either. In my mind, it's greatness combined with longevity, but that's just me.

Plus, it helps if you're on national TV or some sort of in-studio analyst or talking head. That way the guys that vote for the HOF get to see you and mingle with you regularly. One thing that bothers me about this is Jimmy was very emotional about his entry, and he stated that he was so happy that people "recognized" his and his teams' hard work. Well, i've recognized and appreciated Jimmy for years, in the Hall or not. I wouldn't shed any tears over trying to make these idiot sportswriters happy because it's obviously a popularity contest. Maybe it wasn't 20 or 30 years ago, but it definitely is now. If Drew managed to get a show on NFL Network or ESPN, he'd be in the HOF in no time flat.

I want him in and think he will. 48 TDs is a low number for a career. Are there any HOF WRs with 48 or fewer TD catches?

I meant to quote the one in bold. If you seen the Saints against Vikings, and base it on that game, it`s more than likely that it would have stood in today`s NFL.

There have been exceptions for short term greatness if injury is what cut the career short. Gayle Sayers is a notable example of that. Same for Koufax in baseball. A short coaching career is a little different, and I wondered if that would hinder Jimmy. I guess not.

The call is the call, but none the less as we see today things like pass interference is strictly a judgement call. Pearson TD in todays game very well could have stood as called

I just don't like that sportswriters control the Hall like they do. They already control the narrative, and they can swing an opinion one way or the other like a herd of cattle running off a cliff. I'm honestly amazed they let Charles Haley in. He was known to hate the media, and they made him pay for it. I truly believe the only reason he got in was because Brady managed to get his 5th Super Bowl ring and folks brought up Haley's name to remind them that Brady wasn't the first.

What's crazy is the wide-out from the 1960s all-decade class had almost 80 career touchdowns.......... (yeah 48 is low for sure)

In today’s atmosphere I’m not sure there wouldn’t have been a flag thrown . Back then it was very unusual for offensive PI and pushing off was basically unheard of.
