If the Cowboys are going to pay top dollar for a quarterback there are better options

Cam Newton is going to be available. He would be amazing in Dallas.
I'd rather see Dallas get Cam than pay big money for Dak.
  • Case Keenum is available. He led the Vikings to the NFC Championship game. He is a better deal than Dak.
  • Marcus Mariota will be available. He would be better.
  • Tom Brady will probably be available.
And more.
As I said, I will back Dak if they sign him.
But there are much better options.
When we going to see the better options?

Cam Newton has serious injury questions and honestly might be the least accurate QB in football so if his legs are done, he is done.

Tom Brady is going to be 43 and not cheaper than Dak by any reasonable amount.

Marcus Mariotta is a bona fide scrub.

For Case Keenum see Marcus Mariotta. Yes they carried him to the championship game, but outside of a very very small window we have seen what he is. Anyone can play well for 2 games if the ball bounces just right, but even his best 2 games were slightly above average QB play.

I see no reason to believe Keenum, Cam or Mariota would be better, and I think it's highly unlikely Brady would leave the Patriots as long as the Patriots want him back.

This is a terrible take. Don't worry about the money, quarterbacks are gonna be over paid.
Dak is very good and will get even better under McCarthy. The team loves him and will follow him anywhere.
You should too.
This team would follow the waterboy as long as they get paid. That doesn't make Dak impressive.
He sat down on this team and couldn't even muster enough courage to beat the teams he was supposed to beat with the division on the line.
People knock Carson Wentz, but he led the Eagles to a division title with most of his starters hurt. He passed and passed and fought to get into the playoffs. He wanted it.
Dak didn't. He quit on the team and let the Cowboys be eliminated, knowing that one more win would win the division He threw the ball into the ground on 4th down.
Pretty much explains why EVERYONE should be leery of giving Dak a big contract.

Keenum IS better.
It's not even close.

I can say that Luke Walton is a better basketball player than Lebron. However, there isn't a single statistic (not ONE) that would back that up.

There is not one single category related to playing the quarterback position that Keenum has outperformed Dak in. Not a single one. With that, what is your basis for thinking Keenum is better than Dak?

Mariota has the same "inDakuracy" . Id rather have one of the other two.

Of the available FA QBs, the ONLY one that I would even consider over Dak would be Teddy Bridgewater. I'm not certain if I would actually TAKE Bridgewater over Dak, yet; but I would consider it.
