from 2016-2018 Dallas won a whole lot of games with redzone TDs from Elliot and Dak. That disappeared last yr.
Red Zone offense bounced back a bit last year with Moore (and with Fred and Witten back), but it's one of the few areas on offense where there is definitely room for improvement.

red zone TD%
2016 5th
2017 7th
2018 26th
2019 16th

Bewildering considering the skill position players we have plus a big, tough QB that can run.

Those games he didn't call plays though. Whether we believe it or not, it was right there on the broadcast. Moore with the play sheet speaking into the headset.

I do believe for the tougher games Jason instructed Moore to call a close game and play not to lose, but he clearly wasn't calling each individual play. NO was the first example for sure, where we reverted to Jason's ultraconservative gameplan. But Moore was still the guy making the calls.
Well that was too much Garrett whatever it was and he needs forget that style if he wants to keep this gig

The offensive staff SHOULD be great. Lots of input and experience - McCarthy, Moore, Philbin, and Nussmeier have been OC either in the NFL or college.

Disagree. MM has said all along that he likes Kellen. He has hired his assistant coaches to this point— I just don’t see the “JJ is a meddler” narrative in play here
Of course, MM is going to say that. It seems a little strange that he's hiring everyone else outside the organization but KM, whose playcalling was deficient down the stretch. Be that as it may, it's nothing I'm going to swear on. I'm guessing like the next person. It just smells like JJ.

On of the issues is that Cooper has never been a red zone threat.

Cooper TD catches, 2015-17
from outside red zone 13 (5th)
from inside red zone 5 (92nd)

I'm hesitant to believe this... We'll know once the season is rolling who is calling plays... Right now it's premature to jump to conclusions...

Again, I'll reserve thoughts until the season is underway because from the sound of his PC (which he (himself) spoke. Not 3rd party info saying he said such and such), I got the impression that he will be the one calling the plays. As I said earlier, it's premature to react without seeing him on the field...

I remember hearing that in the King interview as well, though I think that was in the context of helping coaches develop versus what’s best for the team. Recall he also said the guy installing the offense during the week needs to call the plays and that he thinks about the program 3x as much as offense.

He may realize he has a lot to do to build the program how he wants it and won’t have time to also install the offense each week. Plus, We are about to change the offense on Dak just as we sign him to a long term deal. I would keep as much the same for Dak as possible. That’s why the language is staying the same, it will just be new plays, and build on the relationship with Dak and Moore. It’s not like the offense was bad.

I have really liked what has happened since McCarthy taking the job, most notably, bring in his own guys. I recall numerous posts well before JG was fired that it didnt matter who we brought in because they wouldn't bring their own staff and would essentially be the next puppet. Seeing McCarthy come in and do things his way has been a relief to see that the head coach is in control of the things he should be.

I, like many, hated hearing Jones chime in through the years as he stuck his nose in business it shouldnt have been in. I had my doubts he would actually let a new coach control things the way he should be was mildly hopeful at best. So McCarthy has been a great hire in my opinion, even before stepping on to field for our first practice. Just him having his own voice is promising.

After reading some of the twitter posts last night after I finally got some free time, I feel better about the initial news of Moore calling plays. It brought on such a feeling of Jerry forcing something on the coach and undoing the good feeling McCarthy has brought to the team in his short time. So, I think after reading some more that it could be good for everyone involved and I have faith if it isnt working that a change will be made.
