How do you have the biggest impact in his development in a half of season he started?

The slant towards Garrett has reached epic proportions.
Are you serious dude? You think player development only happens when you’re starting? Have you completely forgotten that player development for first 2-3 years of a player’s career, regardless of starting position, is VERY important, especially as a quarterback.

Your obsession with Garrett goes beyond football. You’re still fanboying over this guy while he's currently employed with the Giants. Just stop already.

Whatever side of this argument you’re on, the facts are that he’s gone and the Cowboys have to face him at least 2 times next season. It seems like a few of you are all worked up because you believe the Giants will probably split with us in 2020. Well, the law of averages is on your side, regardless of Jason Garrett, because the Giants haven’t beaten us since 2016. Yes, we’ve won 6 in a row.

I consider myself a pretty astute fan and also fair. I’ll tell you that I’ve been hopeful Garrett could be the guy because of his ties to the team for nearly 30 years, but I’ve always been left unsatisfied with the job he’s done. He’s had some moments over the years that were very positive, but they were simply too few and far between for my taste. In my recollection, the good was immediately followed by a double-dose of bad - whatever the circumstance.

He was an okay coach - choose your own superlative. Middling? Mediocre? Average?

I think his presence on the Giants staff will make the games more interesting, but in my head and heart I don’t believe HE will make them more competitive. He was an okay coach for the Cowboys a total of 13 years and I’m pretty sure that’s what he will be for the Giants and whomever else he might coach for in the future. His methods are too conservative and unimaginative for the modern game. He will need to reinvent himself to make a noticeable difference.

I don’t wish hateful **** on the dude, but I am so glad he’s gone. It was a bad, bad decade.

If Garrett's play calling resembles how he performed in doing so for Dallas, the Giants will be in for a disappointing season. His timid approach should more than likely be something that the Giants fans should eventually come to despise. They were likely favorably impressed with what he did as their QB coach in the past.

I'm encouraged about our chances of beating them on a regular basis in the future, assuming they retain him in his play calling role for a significant time. Actually, I'm a bit surprised that they failed to take full notice of his OC performance with the Cowboys. Bad for them but good for us.

A number one offense that was great at getting yards but not so great at scoring for wins. Yeah, that's awesome. Missing the playoffs. AMAZING!
He is about to be the OC and JJ is not around to threaten him in the media. Im glad JG is gone but I have never thought he was not a good coach just that he was too close to JJ which meant too much influence. JG will be a problem in NY for the Cowboys.

Umm well yeah because he was forbidden by the owner to interfere with the offense
He was forbidden in interferring with play calling. But Kellen was running JGs original offense prior to Linehan offense; it was just Kellen added some RPOs ect. Anyone that thinks that Kellen came up with an entire offense after one year of coaching on the NFL level as a QB coach is mentally challenged.

FYI Kellen will also be calling plays this season but it will MMs offense with some RPOs that Kellen is more familiar with. #WestCoast

For a team wanting its offense to just be as good as ours, Garrett makes sense. He can put together a good enough offense to win with a strong defense, which he rarely had here. Better defense in 2014 and 2016 and maybe we're talking two-time Super Bowl winner.

He didn't have it, though, and his offense simply wasn't good enough to overcome an average to mediocre defense. The offense couldn't do enough to outgun a team like Green Bay. Hopefully, we have that now with McCarthy, but also put out a more respectable defense as well.

Garrett didnt adapt and make adjustments. When we did make adjustments it was always late and way too far to the opposite end. That had as much to do with losing to better defenses as our own inept defense.

Why don’t you look up his offenses while OC of the Cowboys and get back to us? I’m curious as to what “full notice of his OC performance” you’re referencing.

I do wonder if he will have a conservative approach and use his playbook. Or if he will be taking JJ’s advice on going for it on every 4th down still. And also was his hands tied calling plays. I know the players execution had a lot to do with it. But he used the same predictable playcalls for years. Playing them now will make me nervous. We been pounding them for a few years now.
