This is all the more proof why 1) taking a running back Top 5 in the draft isn’t worth the draft capital; and 2) why paying a RB top dollar is never a good idea.
I like zeke. But your logic is sound. Clearly the 49ers showed the value of a good scheme.

Zeke is a really good back, but I think Shanahan's system is the much more effective way to go. When you can plug in guy after guy and they can succeed is it really the back?

We think we have to pay $90 million to have a run game, and SF just showed yet again why it's a poor allocation of resources.

Dont be fooled. The Shanahans have always used average backs and make them 1k rushers. They scheme so well in their ZBS.

Perhaps the FO should consider hiring some people that know how to implement such great schemes that let you get outstanding production for UDFA value so that this roster can be built properly instead of having total reliance upon striking gold on all your 1st round OLine picks in order to operate your scheme. Also be giftwrapped a 1st rounder due to some off the field incident that he was ultimately not responsible for.

So glad Garrett is finally gone. I don't even give a crap if McCarthy bombs.

I really like Mostert but Dallas wouldnt know how to use him. I wanted Dallas to trade for him back in August when it looked like Zeke was gonna hold out. I watched Mostert through the pre season and though that he was good. Just like few years ago I wanted Dallas to draft Kamara to pair with Zeke but nope. The Cowboys would of let both these players rot on the bench while Zeke controls the show.

Work on your understanding of sarcasm, sheldon.:)
I’m not up to date with my sitcoms, I’ll assume this is a reference to the BBT but the lack of caps with sheldon is throwing me off a bit. Hmmmmm,......

SF pretty much proved the point last night that when your OL opens up holes, there are 100 rbs who can look like pro bowlers. Mostert ran for 220 yards and 4 TDS..........he's on a 3 year contract that pays him 8.7 million and that's after bouncing around the league. SF is his 4th different team in his 5 year career. And yet, somehow on the biggest stage the guy looked better than Zeke Elliott has ever looked. Moral of the story : its about the blocking not the running back.

Big difference dude

this is clearly scheme whereas Henry has been an elite talent his entire life

I’ll still take Zeke over Henry but the preface of your thread is incorrect; if anything this shows that RB is a position that you CAN skip on paying for talent — in that sense I question Zeke for his cost because of his position
Henry isn't an elite NFL talent.

I don’t want to be rude, but you don’t know about scheme. The Whiners running scheme consistently puts their blockers in better position to make their blocks. They do have excellent blockers, but their scheme is outstanding. Hell they have an average back with a QB who only threw the ball 7-8 times the whole game. GB knew the Whiners were running and still couldn’t stop it.

Coaching and scheme matter a lot! The Whiners running game has both and good blockers.
I don't think half the Cowboys lineman can pull and move like the Niners lineman. And Zeke doesn't have the speed to get to the edge like their backs.

Am I doing it right?

I figure I give it a go after that ridiculous Derrick Henry thread

If anyone is watching this championship game it states how important scheme is. The 9ers are well coached.

Think about that when you want to get rid of great players like Elliott or cooper

Well done....you almost got me!

His dad got Terrell Davis in the HOF with the ZBS. That thing is beautiful when it’s working.

dudes on his 5th team in 4years and has a few nice games and hes better then zeke.. NO HES NOT..

dude had 500 yards in 4 years TOTAL what the league missed on this guy how? he taking advantage of some great coaching and play calling but hes splash players.. Zekes the focal point of our offense which makes him a focus of the defense and still can out up 1400yards and 12 tds in a down year.. GMAFB..
