Actually he looked good when they finally started playing him at the end of the year.
Pretty much.

He was raw when they drafted him and was never going to do much this year no matter what. He's too inconsistent in his fundamentals. 18 months of work can change that quite a bit.

The idea that they're going to cut bait with a second rounder who has his upside already is seriously misguided. That never happens.

Depends on what else is available but he's only been there a year and he's affordable. He's got a whole new D staff that will decide his future as a Cowboy.

I will say this about him, his stock fell when Frost left to go to NE because he was on the 1st round projection list before the new coaching staff came in. He was their first pick last draft and I don't see them throwing in the towel on him this early.

And if he does come into his own, he will not be the first player to do that because of a coaching change.

If Nolan decides he wants big fat hole plugging DTs on defense then Hill may be the odd man out. It would also mean the Cowboys will need to sign a few guys on defense before they can cut Hill loose. On the other hand, If they want guys with quickness who can move laterally to cut off running lanes, then Hill could be a fit.

My thing with Hill is that he has elite measurables and even as a raw rookie you can see that. You can also see he needs a lot of coaching and weight work.

The flip side of that is he has a ton of upside and if he already had the coaching and weight work in college he would have been gone long, long before our pick in the second round. If you look at this as a three year project, its a good gamble. If you think that your 2nd round pick has to be the one in five or so that starts from Day One, its a big disappointment.

Right now it’s probably 50/50
He’s a 2nd rnd pick so he will get a shot in camp
But if there is not a change in his heart and desire I could see him cut
Some players need time to develope and that’s why they get 3 years
But if the player is not doing his part to get better why waste the roster spot

I was thinking taking underwear with Joseph Randal. But hanging with twill works too.

Its a huge loss for this website that we don't have the Joseph Randal shoplifting version of this gif -

T. Hill couldn’t make the 45 man active roster most games. What are the chances he doesn’t make the roster cut downs to the final 53 this year?

Normally I would say that he makes it but he has been bad enough I put it at 50/50.

He will make the team by default if nothing else. They won't give up on him after 1 year.

Assuming Hill doesn't Taco his way off the roster - If Hill and Antwuan Woods are the backup DT next year, how many teams will have two better guys on the bench?

I thought Covington would do more last year as the backup 1T but I don't see him being resigned.

he will reinvent himself with a new DC and staff that will give him a clean slate and I say he has a shot for a bigger role in the new defense..sometimes a fallen out with an old staff gets you in dog house with no shot..

how do you account for player(s) such as Moesert who in 4 years on 6 different teams and was total scrub but all of sudden hes has a record day in big playoff game? he found home and a coach who wanted him to succeed..

Thil taco and others attitudes and work ethincs got them benched but good staff with less of an ego can take players who have talent and mold them into a good players..

If Hill isn’t good enough to suit out for games next season he won’t be here. No way are they going to waste another season with him if he’s a healthy scratch most weeks.

Like the guy from Remember The Ttians?

more of his attitude then talent..how he practices, speaks to coaches et cetc
some coaches can navigate this , other have quick hook and throw a guy on the bench down the depth chart to be forgotten.. I think the talent was there just like Taco and Taco was about to have a good season but the coaches gave up because they simply didnt want to deal with him..

im hoping our new staff has more patience and a willingness to message the best out of players who need it most..

He's in trouble unless he has an impressive camp and preseason. The new coaching staff doesn't care, they weren't around to draft him. If they take a DT in the first 4 rounds of the draft then he'll be in BIG trouble!

He looked much better when he got PT in the Bears and Bills games.

Yes, he was inactive but once we acquired Bennett that wasn't a surprise - Bennett was unhappy with playing time and we accommodated with a ton of snaps at end and at the 3 tech. Having Bennett and Maliek taking about 65-75% of the total snaps each game meant made it a numbers game. No way you are going to dress an extra DT with those guys and both the 1 techs healthy.

Where Hill struggled was playing the 1 tech. No idea why they'd put him there when he'd played 3T the entire preseason and hasn't had a full offseason to bulk up.

We had nothing all year even with all those guys. Hard to imagine it'll be worse, no matter who we sign

By the end of the season, with Woods healthy and Bennett added, this was the best DT crew we've had in years. The best DEs as well, with Quinn and Lawrence.
