It was Stephen and McClay first. Garrett and Jerry had to be convinced right up til the end

Jerry is the one who had to be convinced it doesn’t matter what Garrett thought. It all ends with Jerry he makes the final decision.

I honestly pictured as an actual TE. Similar to the talk of using Noah Brown as a tight end that bounced around for a bit.

But even Noah Brown wasn't being used as a true TE. More of a H Back type.

I don't want Dez blocking but having him work underneath, running up the seam, and getting jump balls in the redzone? It could work.

He's not really going to play TE. He just want to work the middle of the field like an Anquan Boldin or Larrry Fitzgerald.

He'll never play TE and that's not what he meant anyways.
I agree he'll never play TE, but since he specifically said "give me the role they gave Witten", I'm not sure that isn't what he meant. In any case, even if he is talking about WR, whatever he may or may not have been able to do earlier in his career isn't the same as what he may or may not be able to do now, so the TO analogy doesn't really fit.

True, I just remember it being tossed around as a conventional tight end. In any event, it’s just intriguing (to me) as a thought experiment

Yeah I don't know what Dez could or couldn't do now but he's still at an age where guys can produce at a high level.

If he's anything like he was but motivated then it's a big win for whoever gets him.

If he's lost all of his explosiveness and ability to go up and get a football then there is no point.

Dez STOP:facepalm:

Please , you arent big enough to be a true TE mot TEs are 6-6 and above 250, have to block big DL/DEs all game.. I hear NE is desperate for WRs lol,its the last stop for all troubled egotistical WRs :)):muttley:

a slow possession WR maybe but we got that covered in cobb or anyone with some mileage left..

lets bring in a journeymen FA TE to go with Witten...

It's hard to make a limited roster simply as a guy who can occasionally outjump other players in the end zone, and it would need to be seen if the achilles injury has hurt that leaping ability some.

Yeah, Dalton Schultz will be hard to kick off the roster with his limited blocking and 1 reception in 2019.

There are plenty of TEs below 6-6. One of the best in the game right now is 6-3.

The last time Dez was playing he was our #1, alpha receiver. He had been the alpha his entire life

Some players can make the adjustment from the #1 to the #4. It certainly helps if they simply age into a lesser role and it’s a gradual decline

Do you think Dez has come to grips with that?

the last thing I want to see is our #4 making a fuss over not getting enough targets

I want as close to a drama free season as we can get and I’m not confident that Dez would suddenly become this elder statesman teaching WR like he is making himself out to be in these comments.
maybe all you say.

But it just makes wise due diligence and look at Dez and see for ourselves.

What we are dealing with right now is a prejudice that we have been mislead by Garrett. And that he can't play anymore and that it is not worth taking the time to see.

If you can bring back Witten for a second try..is Dez not a guy worthy of a second try?

Oh I think so.

But MM has all this now in his lap.

He has not even see his first practice yet.

Give it a little time.

An Anquan Boldin type of role.

A motivated Dez Bryant who is healthy is dangerous.

He's only 31 years old too.

I'd love to have him back. He's one of our all time greats and just wants to play for the love of the game.

People act like he is Antonio Brown or something.
Why bring him back if Mike McCarthy is already a failure and Dak sucks in your eyes? Why would he want to even come back to this disaster?

I can see it happening. Jerry loved dez. I cant say for sure but my gut says getting rid of dez was strictly a garrett decision.

If Jones really like Bryant that much and if Jones is as meddling as many here say he is he would have told Garrett no on releasing Bryant.

McCarthy was just the wrong hire and Dak doesn't suck.. He's slightly above mediocre and wants top 5 QB money and that is what I have a problem with.

If it was just Garrett then why isn't Bryant on some other team now? The saints gave him a change during the 2018 season and he got injured in his first practice and after the season they were no longer interested in him. Bryant's second from his last complete season he played he was one drop from leading the entire league in drops. In his last complete season he did lead the league in drops. Again if he was still some kind of threat he wouldn't be unemployed right now.

I'm thanking God that you have zero to do with the Cowboys.

aka witten and sean lee. both should be gone in 2020

Lee played well this season. I would be fine with him coming back in the same role he had. Witten’s game tailed off as the season went on and he suffered a number of drops.
