How far off are we?
I don't think we could ever be like the Chiefs because Mahomes is really that whole team. He's the best player in the NFL right now.
What we can replicate from the Chiefs is an offense that creates more explosive plays.
2 problems...
Dak is not an explosive big play QB.
Zeke was not an explosive RB at all this past season.
Defensively on paper I don't see us too far from the 9ers but when it plays out on the field our defense is nowhere near theirs.
I like our front 7 with Quinn. We need some help at DT.
Byron would be a big loss IMO. Especially with this coordinator.

2019 Cowboys should not be in the equation this is an early post thats should be debated later when we see the new players added and old subtracted and the schemes we will run.. but 2019 DC were closer to a Titans structure and with better coaching we could have gotten further IMO..
you dont need to be explosive in all phases, our ST and defense alone caused more problems then Dak and Zeke in the old offense.. too many times they names keep being thrown around but in Fact
issues in order of bad
1. ST, Kicker, punter and ST coach by far worst phase last year cost us 2games
2. Defensive schemes and some players-cost us a game or two
3. bad coaching(HC) at one point or anther in game adjustments etc
4. Offense
last on the list seems to be your focal point when I saw a JG not explosive at all, a Run game was great and defense was best on the field, great coaching and good STs..
so we blew up the staff will make players additions and subtractions and get back at it..
Dak and zeke are so far down the list of issue we had and SAn Fran had 4 bad years of high draft picks to build that defense..going 13-3 9-7 10-6 8-8 while they were picking into top 5 or 10 during that span is tough to compare..
hopefully this staff uses this draft to get a DT, S, and possibly a corner or DE high
tryi g to duplicate a blueprint for a SB run is tough..
there are a lot of different ways teams like Philly, the rams, and NE have done it..NE changed the way they did it yearly so looking over and saying oh how do we do that as opposed to looking at your owns teams strengths and coming up with plan like the titans did..
if there were one way that worked every year well we would have 32 teams copying it and 32 teams making the superbowl, LOL only two teams make it for different reason.. philly and the rams now didnt even get close, only one playoff team from last year made it to the 2nd round so all new but KC and they have Mahomes..Seatle Green bay Pittsburgh all havent been back in while.. KC its been FIFTY years since they been to one 50! they dont have the answer took them fifty years to luck into a coach and hof type elite once a generation QB with the right mix or role players..but last year they fell agame short..Brees and SP couldn't get to the NFCCG I mean its hard and against no right or wrong way..
