I don’t know why they didn’t hold Dak’s hand and make him sign as you suggest, you know, because they could have “made him“ sign ”anytime they wanted”.

There is a number Dak would’ve signed but they didn’t agree to that number obviously.

This article made me sick to my stomach. No way does Dak get more money than Wilson. Wilson has won a SB and been to another one. You notice after Wilson's big contract Seattle has fallen off. They're a mediocre, possible playoff team. They don't have money to sign anyone else. We are a step below the Seahawks without a 35 million a year QB. We'll be 8-8 or 9-7 till Dak retires. This sucks. And I'm a Dak fan.

We heard all these articles this time last year. We were repeatedly told Dak would be signed to a mega deal before March, before the 2019 draft, before mini-camp, before training camp, before preseason games, before regular season starts etc.

It's getting very tired at this stage.

If the Cowboys were extending Dak, it would have been done by now. Actions speak louder than words.

Blimey, for the next 5 years at least, the only positive will come on draft days when we draft in the first 10 picks range.

Well that is the quickest way to reload up on talent. Look at the 49'rs. How many top 10 picks are on their Dline, plus another as their backup. Look at what we did drafting high for 1 year. Maybe going young and drafting early for 3 years to give us a young talented base is the plan.

Here is the deal Daks going to endup somewhere between 35 mil to 42 mil thats a fact. Cooper somewhere 15 to 18 mil and thats a fact. The Cowboys have got to cut a few players loose like Crawford for starters and add some dollars too the salary cap to go along along with a restructure or two and with new cap increases they should be able to add three free agents and must get at least three quality starters from the draft. Here are some thoughts:

They have several options:

Resign Quinn for 5 to 7 mil Quinn on one side and Lawrence on the other

Retool your two DT positions either in the draft or free agency if you want to use free agency Hargrave and Phillips if you want to wait until the draft first round Kinlaw or etc.

Secondary if you draft DT Kinlaw look to free agency for secondary help like HaHa Clinton Dix or etc.

They are going to use either the draft or free agency to fill these needs:

2-DT
1-CB
1-Safety
1-LB
1-Slot WR or resign Cobb

I think the Cowboys best move is to let him test Free Agency and see what his true market value is and decide to match it or not.

It's really a win win for the Cowboys. If they lost him for 35+ million to some stupid team then that is fine.

Go sign one of these vets for next to nothing who will produce at a similar level.

Stephen didn't say it in this interview but did in a previous one that what caused that break down in negotiations at the beginning of the season wasn't the money but the length of the contract. The offer was 34 mil a year for 5 years and Prescott wanted just 3 years and hasn't budged from that. 3 years will coincide with the new TV contracts and Mchomes and Watson will also set new highs for contracts
.

Dak is wanting to get paid agian with a higher salary in 3 or 4 years

It is all relative to the cap and escalating salaries of QB's like Mahomes, Jackson and Watson and then Mayfield and Murray will follow. Prescott will the highest paid for a blink and agents will use his deal and him as the benchmark, just like they did Cousins. The tagged QB became the floor.

The issue isn't what they pay Prescott, that's the pay to play price, it is what they're paying to others and what are they receiving? Prescott at 36M is a better deal than Lawrence or Smith's deal. And what will they do with Cooper and Jones?

How many players can a team get into the top 6 paid at their position? They have 5 on the O side and 2 on the D side now. That could climb to 7 and 3. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be one of those 12 on the other side. A team with that kind of have/have not balance better hope for health on the have side.

Could've been cheaper last season, the Joneses *** up.

I wasn't sure I wanted him to be signed to a long-term deal last season. He had been up and down leading into the year. Waiting has a cost, but I'd rather the Cowboys be sure than save a few million.

I think that's where the two sides will settle. Prescott doesn't have the playoff proof of Wilson, but inflation brings Dak into that range. If Wilson had signed his new contract this year, it's possible it would have averages up to $37 million, maybe even more, with the cap rising.

As far as not having money to sign anyone else, that's a fallacy.

Not dollars but he wanted 3 years not 5 years because he wants to cash out even higher on the next deal in 3 years but Cowboys balked.
