Everyone regressed last year in the secondary except for the GOAT and Lewis.

Or was 2018 an one year wonder/mirage for some guys...

Willing to give Woods one more year under new coaches to see how far he can peak.

I'm hoping they draft/sign at least 2 safeties that have some potential this offseason. Give these guys real competition rather than finalizing the depth chart before free agency starts.

To be a starter? Yes

to make the big play on a consistent basis and be a difference maker? No

ET is 5'10 202 and hes been good all of his career

So I wouldn't say X is too small. But the play making isn't there

Total scrub with zero ball skills.

His dropped INT - a total gimme - at Philly changed the entire complexion of the game.

Had at least 2-3 other dropped INTs this year.

We need playmakers in our secondary and Woods isn’t a playmaker.

No for me. I think he could a good Jordan Babineaux type S/CB that plays in subpackages. But I don't think he does anything well enough to be an starting NFL Safety. A poor tackler with limited range is not a player you want starting on the back end
Hate to say it...he's just a step too slow...to cover as a free safety. He just can't cover from hash to hash as a single high. Nor are his instincts good enough...always seems late in reacting to the football.

Oddly enough, people want to trade our first for Jamal Adams.

Xavier Woods had as many INTs last season (2) as Jamal Adams has had in his three year career (2). They both forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble this year.

Obviously, Adams does other things better; blitzing and tackling.

But as far as generating turnovers, there isn’t any difference.

Where do you stand on whether or not Xavier Woods is a starting caliber NFL Safety

He is not. Guy was bitten by the Cowboys lazy taint. Exposed. Where else would he start? Nowhere. He is at best a 3rd S that can play a little slot. The lying FO had everyone believing that the great coaching staff will turn a small late rounder into a starter. Wrong.

Personally I dont see it. whe reason they sc Heathouted as tSafeties so heavily last draft, as well as tried to trade for Adams. I think they are set on moving on

 that's the old coaching staff. Not sure we know what Mike and his coaches think of Heath yet.....

May not be saying much, but he has led the team in INTs the last two seasons. Put him in a real scheme and then make a dull evaluation.

How many Safeties in the NFL have good ball skills? Two or three?

Players with good ball skills are on offense and play WR, they aren't safeties in the first place.
Nah chief

There’s Bad and there’s horrible. His are horrible

If we let Byron Jones walk, I think he's a nickel corner and we look for something more at the starting safety spots. If we re-sign Jones, then I think Woods remains the starting free safety and we bring in a starting strong safety.

Woods is a good player while we want great at every position.

I’ll say it again, small Safety from a smallish school and a late pick, he should be a backup in this league......Go look at the better Safties in this league, most are high picks or big school guys, or both. That doesn’t matter at every position but for S it appears so. Kevin Byard is kind of an exception but he was a 3rd rounder

Woods has performed reasonably well in the time he's been playing for the Cowboys. Is reasonably well enough? I think we're about to find out in the near future. They'll be looking for a safety in the draft but it won't be a FS, which is Woods position. I think Woods is safe for the time being. A SS will most likely be our target in the draft.

I would love to see Donovan Wilson get a chance to compete this offseason for a role on the 53. I think his potential is exciting and could be a starter at safety one day with actual nfl caliber coaching.
