I think Dak will only sign the Tag

This is a great vantage point for Dak's agent to resume negotiations...

"So, I hear there's going to be a new offensive philosophy installed... going to need your starting QB in early to learn it, yes?".

We have zero leverage here. No way Dak signs a tag.

Tag him and draft a new QB, rather it be Tua or Herbert. Dak just isn’t worth the price tag IMO. He played very badly in the latter half of the season with a good roster. That’s concerning IMO.

That’s why I propose we draft a QB, let him sit under Dak for a year. If Dak fails to step up to the plate again, we go with the rookie and let Dak walk/tag him and trade him. He’s gotta be worth something. Maybe trade him for another player or for a 3rd-5th round pick, depending on what team is willing to negotiate and what team needs a good (backup) QB. I say we draft a QB first round, then a DT, CB, S or TE, S or TE, DE, and then pick up some special teams in FA.

Makes no sense to sign Dak to a long term deal - too risky. We have no idea whether or not he can play in MMs system. He has been inconsistant to date - which in itself makes signing him to a big contract risky. The coaching change knocks the risks up a lot more.

Now, if JJ offers him a reasonable deal, he will sign it because of the risks. Otherwise he could find himself as the new Bortles on a backup salary if 1m per year.

I think the reason he isnt currently signed is more to do with the Cowboys jitters over him rather than because he wants more than he was offered. There is no evidence the Cowboys have ever made him a long term offer.

P.S. Daks best chance of making big money is to follow his biggest fan - JG - to NY. JG's history is that he wont let another QB challenge Dak - no practise reps or garbage time reps allowed to other QBs. Dak could easily get another 3-4 years unchallenged in NY.

I believe Dak is betting on himself again and will not accept a lowball contract from the Jones. Dak wants to prove his worth by taking Dallas on a deep playoff run, and get a long term contract when the new CBA starts with increased Salary Cap. Until then Dak will be taking 1 year deal, let’s go!:dance::dance::dance:

Oh yea Dak will have better career than Mahomes with more regular season wins & SBs.

Im hoping he plays on the tag but dont forget. Jerry uses big moments to make announcements and I wouldnt put it past him to announce Dak signing a new contract the day of the SB or the opening day of the NFL draft. Jerry loves free marketing.

Daniel Jones right now has a higher redzone completion than Dak. I believe Jones will surpass Dak over time if he can cut out the mistakes.

He would, for the a new CBA with larger cap.

Or he could get injured. Dak's not signing a franchise tag. This is almost too predictable. He's going to sit until he gets his 35+ million and Jerry will have no choice but to pay him b/c he can't saddle his new offensive minded head coach with no QB.

Ripley's Believe It Or Not!

Upcoming Events Some People Believe Will Happen But Highly Likely Won't

  • Dak Prescott signing for $30 million or less
  • The team drafting a quarterback in the first round
  • Tom Brady in a Dallas Cowboys uniform
What else? Realistically speaking, that is.

*Tannehill would supplant Marriota and take the Titans to the AFC Championship game?

Taking a 1 year deal is great for the boys.

Believing he will have a better career than mahomie is insane.

Good article. Do you believe similar events will lead to Prescott being benched, under Jerry Jones' watch, and reproduce themselves in Dallas?

Good luck.

No, I just want to see some competition at the Qb position before signing Rayne to a Cap Busting deal. Franchise him, Draft, and let the best man win out. Its mind boggling that the most important position on the team gets tenure and is never challenged. even the Patriots would continue to draft high at the Qb position while Brady was performing well.........this is nothing new, it was done the same way during the Romo years as well

Well, I mean, he was either getting the tag or a new extension.

Knowing the pace of this front office, they'll probably end up throwing the tag on him next month so they can work on getting other guys potentially re-signed. Then, they have till July to get a long term deal done.

They can claim not enough cap to sign free agents, then cave into Dak's demands cause they always blink,by late June, and can create more cap space prior to TC with a new long term deal.
