Nah, I’m not feeling anything genuine on your part yet. It’s still reeks of desperation so your gonna have to continue to state your case until I’m convinced. That big fat contract is gonna bring a lot of scrutiny so the honeymoon will be over. Im just trying to warn you that it’s gonna get ugly
It will only get ugly from you complainers. Funny how y'all never complained when Romo got those big contracts TWICE.

They insult and name call the works and we get called trolls?
If this site was called the DakZone I could understand it but jeez someone tell them its called the Cowboyzone....
Dak is the Cowboys franchise QB! Support him is what fans do. If you bash him, guess what you are by the rule of the definition: a Troll. Own it!

Go root for Wentz then. Heard he was a knockout in his first playoff appearance. Oh wait----------> runs

Is that how this works? Disagree with something so now I have to watch the eagles?

If we can't pay that much, how are other teams going to? What do you think Mahomes will cost? And Watson?

Of course, we don't even know that Dak is going to cost as much as the story indicates. How many times do these kinds of stories prove to be wrong?

Dak isn't even close to being either of those guys. That is the problem. Houston will need to be careful how much they pay Watson or they could end up the same as Dak. Just depends how they build their team.

Could've been cheaper last season, the Joneses *** up.
Don't they always?

1) Should have extended Coop at the time of the trade
2) Instead of drafting Zeke draft a stud 'D' player
3) Kept Jason 'The Clown' Garrett around for 9 years too long
3) Run outdated offense and defense
4) Will overpay Dak
5) Any other stupid blunder you can think of (there should be many to choose from)

I think we're talking before all of these contract talks begun. You sign the guy a year before his contract is up, you probably could've gotten way with that number. But now, you're going to pay 38 or more because that's the market. Jerry knew he wanted to keep Prescott but he was playing a game. Now you must open up your wallet.

Maybe instead of supposing things you should pay a little more time catching up on what has happened. The last offer the Cowboys made was at the beginning of the season was a 5 year 34 mil a year offer that Prescott turned down because he only wants a 3 year deal. The Cowboys want to get a 5 year deal done, Prescott only wants a 3 year deal to coincide with the new TV contracts and Mchomes and Watson will have new contracts raising all QB salary costs up.

I think that's where the two sides will settle. Prescott doesn't have the playoff proof of Wilson, but inflation brings Dak into that range. If Wilson had signed his new contract this year, it's possible it would have averages up to $37 million, maybe even more, with the cap rising.

As far as not having money to sign anyone else, that's a fallacy.
I hope you're right about being able to sign other players. Watching Green Bay get ravaged by the niners because their defense sucks was a scary thought for the future.

Here is the deal Daks going to endup somewhere between 35 mil to 42 mil thats a fact. Cooper somewhere 15 to 18 mil and thats a fact. The Cowboys have got to cut a few players loose like Crawford for starters and add some dollars too the salary cap to go along along with a restructure or two and with new cap increases they should be able to add three free agents and must get at least three quality starters from the draft. Here are some thoughts:

They have several options:

Resign Quinn for 5 to 7 mil Quinn on one side and Lawrence on the other

Retool your two DT positions either in the draft or free agency if you want to use free agency Hargrave and Phillips if you want to wait until the draft first round Kinlaw or etc.

Secondary if you draft DT Kinlaw look to free agency for secondary help like HaHa Clinton Dix or etc.

They are going to use either the draft or free agency to fill these needs:

2-DT
1-CB
1-Safety
1-LB
1-Slot WR or resign Cobb
Nice post!

You missed the point. I wasn't saying Dak is at the level of those guys (although I don't think he's much short of Watson), what I was saying is that those guys are going to command a hell of a lot more money than Dak, yet you are acting as if the Cowboys are going to pay Dak as if he were at Mahomes level. The point was that if Mahomes were negotiating a new contract right now he might be looking at something in the $40-45 MM/year range, which would far surpass what the Cowboys will sign Dak for.

I don't know what is going to happen with Dak, but I do know that "Heavy.com" doesn't have any more knowledge of the situation than anybody on this forum.
Just pure speculation on their part.

Who in their right mind would pay that much money to a QB with a 1-2 career postseason record and has missed the playoffs for half of his career? That is ludicrous.
