The 49ers are paying a good bit of money to the running back position. Jerick McKinnon has a good sized contract. Tevin Coleman has a nice chunk of change. I believe they have 3 guys in the top 25 for average salary per season at the running back position.

McKinnon is done. They paid Coleman like 3-5 million and then the other 3 guys are peanuts. Probably not paying more than 6 million for all 3 guys. McKinnon was a wasted contract.

Why is this even a question or a thread? Fans that know football are probably just laughing.

It doesn't matter if his career is over, they still have to pay him. The 9ers Cap hit for RB/FB for 2020 is $23.4 million, ours will be $13.4.

Sure, but by bringing in the salary of a RB that isn't even there, you are missing the entire point.

The reality is that for RB's that have been playing for SF during this SB run, the salaries are minimal and a perfect example that you don't have to spend big money on one back. Especially if you have a dominant line.

It matters NOT that 2 or 3 years ago they did things the wrong way by overpaying an injury prone back.

Your fact is nothing more than a side note.

Lol, likely to reproduce? He’s had a top 5 O line since the day he was drafted and has clearly lost a lot of what he had (as do most RB’s). The Ewok goes as the O line goes which is aging and going downhill. There are very few RB’s that have or have had longevity. As much as Zeke has declined since 2016 I don’t see him being the next AP or Emmitt.

He hasn't declined. People just have unrealistic expectations. Just like a thread wondering if he will get 2000 yards. That is unrealistic and quite frankly is it unnecessary for him to have 2000 yards rushing. He is quite capable of producing between 1700 to 2100 yards from scrimmage for several more years. He has already shown he is not a one year wonder. He is a consistent producer. He isn't Julius Jones, Marion Barber III or Demarco Murrary who flash a little bit of brilliance and then burn out quickly. Elliott has been a steady running back and yes I do think he is more than capable of doing it over and over. Henry has played with a top 5 O-line since the day he was drafted.

its the thread title..i didnt know your fingers breathed but no waste here..you are a hater.. Zeke is our home grown star, been outplay the field for his career and all he gets is some trolls like you who want to bash him citing all other players swho just happen by a good year or intis cae ONE GAME...meh

its short cited and the definition of trolling..appreciate your players by not bashing them at every opportunity, I can appreciate aplayer like Henry McCaffery or cooks etc without bashing Zeke..

I didn’t start the thread you sincerely dumb donkey.

Pick up your strawman and prop it in front of someone that cares.

Don’t take the fact your Zeke nighty is non-refundable out on me.

You’re talking about consistency and he hasn’t even run behind an O line ranked outside of the top 10 in run blocking. Give him the Giants O line and let’s see how “consistent” he is. RB is the most expendable position in football and dummy Jerrah just paid one of the biggest mouth breathing idiots to ever play the game the most money for that position. What games would we have lost without him? Answer....ZERO!

Yeah, and I forgot about Brieda also. They are paying 4 backs.
Actually 6 backs, if you include their FB. McKinnon, Coleman, Brieda, Mostert, Wilson and Juszcyk. Not only are they paying more money, the RB/FB positions are taking up more roster spots.

Actually that is the whole point. It's not a value when they have to spend more money and roster spots to a position. It does matter what they did a last season, because they are still paying for it. Mostert has been with the team 3 seasons, he's never been good enough or consistent enough to be their full time starter. They just brought in Coleman this season too.
