They played REAL football back in those days.
Today's players are pansies compared to how tough the 50's, 60s, and 70's players were.

Funny side note. I saw a guy on Johnny Carson who played football back in the 50s, can't remember his name. He played center and was about to hike the ball when he thought it was starting to rain. When he looked up, the defensive guys were spitting all over his hands and the ball hoping to cause a fumble. lol.

In 1966 there was a buzz in our home, a buzz so loud a 10 year old boy could not ignore. That buzz turned into a relationship that has lasted 54 years. Thanks Dandy Don.

How bout them Cowboys:flagwave:

Wow! You and I share the exact same life experience.

The first thing I can ever remember reading was an article on Don in Life magazine.

Was probably Art Donovan of Colts, that guy was a character, kind of like Dandy, we dont have those type of characters anymore.

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
He deserved better from his hometown crowd. He played at SMU and then for the Cowboys just like Lilly did at TCU and then the Cowboys. Lilly was adored and Meredith got fed up with the Dallas fans and decided to hang it up when he could still play.

The best moment in my MNF history was when the Cards were totaling the Cowboys and the crowd began to chant for Meredith and Howard turned to him and said "well"? Don responded with a "No way" that was such a long time coming and so emphatic that I fist pumped for him.

I used to watch the Cowboys games with my Dad, who was a high school ref on Friday nights so he knew a lot more than me. One thing he said when Meredith was catching it from the fans one day has stuck with me ever since and I found it to be a fact. "Those Cowboys fans are the most ignorant people to the game of football I have ever seen". Too many are not football fans, they're Cowboys fans only and do not know the game.

Meredith was an original and we were lucky to have him and his players knew they had a special player. His coaches knew it as well. I remember the look on Tom's face when they booed his QB.
