How do we know that what we heard about the Lawrence Contract Demands, wanting to be the highest paid Defensive Player, were false?

I know this, I know the history of Todd France absolutely has a track record for doing this and that's pretty easy to confirm, just by looking at his client list.

Pretty sure I read a tweet from either him or his agent .......that was never his intention.

Well, I don't know that this can be confirmed or denied but doesn't matter. I do think that the track record for France is pretty conclusive. That's what he does.

If Dak didn’t hold out on the last year of his contract making ~ a million dollars, the odds of him holding out over a guaranteed ~30 are pretty slim I’d assume.

I just feel like the answer to all of this is let Dak hit the open market and find his true value.

I don't see any need in competing against ourselves.

If he leaves fine.

We'll use that money to build our roster closer to the 9ers or Titans.

Get rid of proven QB, at risk of retreads and unproven rookies. Yes, this is what a good GM would do.

I hope Dallas keeps this hardball mentality if true.

The Cowboys should not sweat this Dak Prescott situation. The Mike McCarthy regime should slap the franchise tag on him and then watch him either earn his next contract or earn his walking papers in 2020. Meanwhile, the backup QB position needs an upgrade. All this drama is unmerited. Dak either sinks or swims in 2020. But do not reward him with a long term contract until the 2020 campaign for a title has ended.

I like Dak and I want him signed, but I agree with you. No need to break the bank.

I like him too, but he definitely shouldn't get a ton of money. No way I'd pay him more than Russell Wilson.

I saw an article comparing his situation to when Flacco decided to not sign a new contract until the next year. Flacco went out and won a Super Bowl and got a huge contract. Dak finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs in one of the weakest divisions ever. He was terrible in close games and had zero come from behind wins.

All that being said, I guarantee Jerry will panic and give him a ton of money if he holds out like Zeke did.

It sucks we have a team full of players more worried about money and their brand instead of winning.

The thing is.. He will just facilitate the offense.

If the coaches scheme guys wide open he'll look great.

If guys are covered then the he won't create and the offense will not move the ball well.

Dak is so dependent of everyone around him because he doesn't have the skills needed to be an elite QB.

There is a ton of Dak Prescotts in this league and a lot of guys who are viewed as averaged would probably perform very similar to Dak in Dallas if not better.

I like Dak... I think he is a good solid player.. But what are we doing here? At least Joe Flacco won a Superbowl before his team got stupid.

We're paying average player like he won the Superbowl? DUMB!

Flacco has the best defense in the league. They won the SB, not Flacco

If he is really what the Jones boys think he is then he should be able to facilitate a playoff berth and then prove himself in the playoffs amongst the elite teams in the league. If he can't do that then why reward him with a long term contract? QB is too important of a position to fill it with someone that can't win us multiple Super Bowls. I understand how high that bar is but that's what it will take. IMO, he is still making too many mistakes.

Get rid of proven QB, at risk of retreads and unproven rookies. Yes, this is what a good GM would do.

Well, San Francisco did it with Joe Montana and Steve Young. Green Bay did it with Favre and Rodgers. It has happened and it has happened and proven to be a good decision. I am not in favor of doing this if you know what you have at QB and you believe that what you have is capable of challenging for a Championship, year in and year out. I don't know what the Cowboys think there. I mean, they say good things but they haven't really stepped up to the plate and offered that block buster deal. I mean, they did it with Troy. They made him the highest paid player in the NFL and not just for a minute but for a good period of time. They paid Troy 50 Mil for 8 years, dwarfing the previous highest paid player in the NFL, Steve Young at 26.75 for five years. That deal was the largest contract in the NFL for more then just a minute as well.

Cowboys eventually did the same with Tony but not until he proved he could be the guy for them. Now, I never really agreed with this contract but that's beside the point. The point I'm trying to make is that the Cowboys are acting much more like they did with Romo then Aikman. They have made statements that suggest they believe that he will need a lot of support around him to be successful.

I know the Cowboys say that Dak is the guy and that they have no doubts but they certainly don't act that way IMO.

I don't even know if I'd be sad about Dak holding out. I think he is a great person and I want the best for him, but I just don't think he is good enough. If I'm paying someone 40 million dollars he better have an elite physical trait. Dak doesn't have one of those.
I wouldnt care at all. Let us see our other QBs in the first 3 or 4 pre season games and take all snaps with first team. We ALL know he isnt worth no 35 million per season. I said prior to start of last season that Id let him play the season and then make a decision on what to do. Cowboys obviously want to sign him long term, but they obviously dont want to pay him what he thinks he is worth. If he doesnt sign the franchise tag, then he sits out the entire season and then next year wed still have him... id do exactly what the chargers did.

I’d love to see Dak in Oakland and all the excuses that would get made..

It’s pretty much universally known Dallas has one of the best rosters in the NFL and he couldn’t elevate them in any of the games against top opponents.

Look I get it, you have an agenda. That said, if you think Derek Carr is a better option, you clearly do not know football.

He's a better option at 15-20 mill a year then Dak is at 35-40..

If you don't understand that then clearly you don't know football.

In fact... If anyone has been paying attention to my QB analysis in the draft zone for years you would think an NFL team should be paying me for my opinions. :)

I would love to have an anonymous poll of all GMs in the NFL and ask them would you pay Dak Prescott 33 mil. The funny thing is just dont remember so much controversy on how much to pay a QB. Many people say he has to be paid like Goff and Wentz but I think it was mistake paying those guys that much and i would bet both organizations would be very skeptical if given a second chance. Wilson, Mahommes, Rodgers, Brees, Brady all deserve top money.

Think you are 100% wrong.

Any team that doesn’t have a young quality QB would be interested in Dak.
The Eagles are 100% happy they signed Wentz. When the salary cap goes up that deal becomes a bargain.
Brady does not deserve top money. He’s an average QB at this point in his career.
