Philly could be eyeing Byron Jones

Would be very happy if the Eagles grabbed Jones. He would immediately become the best CB and he lets guys like Jalen Mills handle 2’s instead of 1’s. The price may be out of control but he’s young, stays healthy and he’s a solid corner. The Eagles have drafted and developed terribly so getting a known commodity isn’t the worst idea if the money works.

Who better to evaluate DB's than the guy that had to game plan against them?

I am in the minority but Byron Jones would be a critical keep for me. He's the most consistent player on the D and one of the two best. And if a team wants to make their CB's better, get good Safeties.
I am with you Coach i want them to resign Jones as well i would cringe seeing him with the eagles

Stopping TEs was literally the best thing he did at S, and he was excellent at it.
.
Byron isn't thrown at. He had 33 fewer targets than Chido.
When you're guaranteed 10 yards by throwing to Chido, why would you bother throwing anywhere else?

I have a hard time believe anyone thinks Byron isn't borderline elite, if not elite..because he doesn't get INTs.

The kid covers, really well. Chido seemed to get picked on, quite often..one could argue because of the fact that he's played opposite of a top tier cover corner.

INT's are a DB's job, as not throwing them are a QB's job? Damn, I guess Favre and Peyton weren't Eltie QB's..

We been hearing how good the Eagles secondary is for years, but yet they never seem to be all that good. But they also had a lot of injuries.
I really do not think Jones will help them all that much. He is decent, but he gets no picks, and this past season gave up more receptions than he did the year before. Now that is they way it seemed, I have not looked up any actual stats.

He will be a solid pick up, but I don't fear him. However maybe in the right scheme and coaching he can be that player. Which is why I would be ok if he stays here at the right price.

Beat me too it, just pass to his man it won't be intercepted.

If my choices are a 2nd round pick CB and Jamaal Adams OR Byron and a 1st rd safety from this class, give me Adams and the pick.

Depends on the technique being taught. Take a 9 or go route for example; if a CB is running with, or a step behind a WR, many teams teach CB’s to watch the WR’s eyes and play through his hands instead of turning and playing the ball. The Eagles DB coach teaches the same technique and it drives me nuts. You’ll see guys have the ball hit off the back of their arm instead of just turning and catching.

I think Richard teaches them something pretty similar but awuzi isn’t as good as Byron at it and neither is a playmaker

Judging off what the great Will McClay had to say about Jones, I don't think he is getting a fat contract offer.

Stephen Jones has his cheap figure scrawled on a napkin, will slide it across the table and it will get rejected by Jones and his representation who know there are a bunch of corner-hungry franchises that will pay him.

I'd rather bet on a stout Dlineman in the first two rounds, especially if Jones is gone. Doesn't matter what elite CB is back there, they can't cover for 10 seconds..while the QB makes a sandwich and loons up his WR in the phonebook

You need to watch your words.

Cornerbacks are actually what makes chamionship teams. @MichaelWinicki can explain that to you.

Uh...

It helps if you either remember what you write or at least go back and check things when you don't remember.

You literally said that low targets relates to being one of the top corners lol.

Now I'm convinced that besides you having a memory problem you also have a comprehension problem. The only thing that I said as far as targets i agreed with you that Jones had less than Chido, but I also said that teams will go after the weakest link so just because Jones had fewer targets does not in any way mean that Jones is a top tier CB. Zero pick this season in fact in his 5 seasons he has exactly TWO picks and yet you want to argue how good he is. There are nickle backs on teams with more picks than Jones and they don't play every down.

It's been years and some of you think interceptions is the measure of a CB. There's so much more that BJ is good at. Jourdan will pick off passes, but compared to BJ it's not close. Stop being lazy and give more reasoning than one stat.

He gone, unless he wants to give a hometown discount. And why would he do that? He’s set to absolutely clean up.

Why? What else we gonna do with $50mill in cap after Dak and Amari?

If they’re interested, they’re sure not making a point of tipping their hand. Stephen didn’t even mention Byron when talking about offseason priorities this week.
