An elite new aged receiving TE could take this offense over the top. Jarwin has shown a few flashes, but isn't that type of player whom will force teams to gameplan against. Both the Super Bowl Teams have such a player, a tremendous mismatch where they have to be doubled on every play.

As one poster said, you can pair up two good TE's, find me the Ertz as we already have the Goedert in Jarwin!
I think Jarwins potential is higher than you think.

Ok...……..now show every missed block by Jarwin that killed a pass play or a run play.

I don't think some of you guys even understand that a TE has two jobs and both are equally as important.

Shultz is also NOT fine. You need 3 good TE's, especially in a run heavy offense like we have.

Jarwin is a WR, think of it that way.

We are 100% not fine. Its as weak a position on the team as any.
That's fair, as long as we look at every block Witt was in the backfield. Of late....the Washington game.

I get how people are excited about Jarwin.

But let's be honest. He was just the guy that was capable beyond Witten. So then people think he is great because he is better than a washed up future Gold Jacket.

Witten had what, two receptions over 20 yards? That is take him out back and shoot him in the head territory.

That still should not elevate Jarwin.

We could use a real starting TE. Jarwin is a nice player who could be a dynamic number two.

This is why I don't see TE as a priority.......let this kid start and coach up his blocking skills. Between he and Shultz ( ms?), we're fine IMO.

I still think we need to draft a TE. does he have some athleticism? yes...but in the offense he was the 4th or 5th option and often matched up against lesser players like himself. can he start and play effectively going against starters? can he block effectively going against better DEs and LBs? I guess we will see..

couldn’t edit. Meant

Specifically on the ”slant” or wide open
When you watch film like this you can't just look at the throw and catch, you must also look at pressure and things like throwing on the run. Sometimes you have to throw a little to the left or right to get around DL hands or arms that's in the passing lane. You also need to look at defenders that can kill the receiver if the ball is led out in front of him. Dak has had some really bad throws and off with his accuracy but these throws to Jarwin is not some of them.

There are plenty of free agent TEs this year that could really be a boost to Dallas. McCarthy likes a receiving TE and on the market this year is guys like Ebton, Hunter Henry, Cook and Eifert. Granted those guys have had injuries but the risk is worth it as the same things were said about McFadden before he signed with Dallas.

I still think a TE in the draft is needed regardless of signing one of those guys in free agency.

Clearly you don't understand that so are jarwins catches. You seem to think jarwin runs downfield then makes a long catch. When in fact most of his catches resemble what witten does, he just has more ability to run after the catch an make guys miss etc.
This is laughable. I loved Witt as a Cowboy but he never had Jarwin’s speed and YAC. Sure Witten had some long runs but they were result of missed tackles, not athletic ability. Your TE’s who are game-altering are guys like Kelce, Graham, Ertz don’t block on running plays much. They STRETCH the field in the passing game. I couldn’t care less if we ever use our TE to block in the run game ever again. If we scheme right and with our O-line we should be able to run the ball with minimal TE blocking.

He does have some skill. I'm perplexed as to why the last coaching staff didn't use him very much. That said, if there's a playmaking TE available at the right spot, I'm not going to let Jarwin stop me from drafting him.

It's really not that tricky to figure out.

Garrett cried when Witten retired and begged him back.

The real question is why was Garrett inclined to do so.

A: more concerned with personal relationship with "Witt" and nostalgia associated with his career than actual current performance level.

What does Witt have to do with it? LOL

I could care less about Witten. The entire TE group needs a complete overhaul.

I agree somewhat.

The state of NFL tight ends is pretty terrible right now in the NFL.

There is a group of tier 1 TE's.

I would put guys like..

Kittle, Ertz, Kelce, Andrews and I can't really think of many others.

I'd look to upgrade the position but we're more then fine with Jarwin because he is an above average pass catcher.

I think Jarwin skills set fits in very well with this offense. In a pro set offense where the TE is asked to block a lot I never saw as this strong suite but in a WCO where TE is used more as a WR I think fits Jarwin very well.

I think Jarwin is definitely going to get a boost in his snaps this year. With that said, I don’t think they should just accept Shultz and call it a day at tight end.

I still think there is the chance to upgrade by finding someone that is a nasty blocker, but can find room between the numbers too for Dak. It would be a double win if they block and run routes a lot like George Kittle too as long as we are wishing. :)

Jarwins ability to run after the catch, make a guy miss is the only differrence. That was my point. Jarwin doesn't go for deep passes all the time in this system, maybe slightly more than witten but thats just not what they ask our TE's to do often. It's more how they choose to use our TE's. Kelce is used as a downfield threat way more than jarwin.
