The problem is Owner not staying out of Football matters. no matter what there's always going to be noise surrounding the team, that wont stop, because the owner doesn't want it to stop. whether its branding or not, the cowboys keep a lot of people within and outside the organization employed
True. No getting around that fat boy.

I’m trying to understand it but I can’t. I understand 54 making the pro bowl this year more than the nickname.

I want to see him get sponsorships for his leadership, focus, and intelligence instead of his swag. I’d like to think more money in it too.

It's the overall individual branding that the players are doing when they aren't winning jack crap.

Everyone would embrace these things if we're winning.

Just have a little self awareness is all.

You're right about the football vs. branding comment. I felt wrong writing it, but I guess I just let the barrage of people saying that get in my head. That said, the name is stupid, and their insistence on promoting it is embarrassing as a fan....especially when they've accomplished nothing.

Of course they do more football than branding. Thats obvious, they have a certain level of commitment that is inescapable when playing professional football.

Does it make us angry, bitter people that we'd rather hear about how our favorite players are planning to improve and be more successful rather than how they are promoting their brand?

We watched a lot of bad football this year and saw a lot of celebrating out of context. Id like to think these guys are driven by more than personal goals, but the team goal of being champions. Right or wrong what I see is a group of guys who have already arrived and seem content to maximize their earnings, win or lose. What the fanatic in me wishes for are guys that cant stand the idea of losing and will stop at nothing to be the best. These guys take an L with a smile on their faces. #hotboyz

Only on the football field. Where they have been sorely lacking.
well said. They can sell whatever kinda snake oil and merch on their own time, AS LONG as they do their jobs well on Sundays. I'm ok with that...but to make his moniker seem more important than his craft looks selfish...then to underperform and THEN point fingers at the fans with nonsense comments like being boxed in...doesn't help him in the PR depart.

I was the biggest fan or at least one of them,of DLAW and his hotboys thingy he has going on. Reason was, he was performing at a high level. Ever since his surgery and signing fiasco, he has changed. I don't see the love and passion for the fans or the game. It shows. Lets hope someone in his inner circle can talk to him and wake him up. Now I am one of his skeptics.

I don't know why people get so upset about it.Let these guys be themselves. These guys don't have to be who you think they should be.
If they win then they can be themselves. It's hard to watch ego maniacs, attention seeking, Instagram stars suck on the football field and then give themselves a nickname. I wish they put more into getting turnovers, making tackles and keeping the other team from scoring then coming up with some stupid nickname.

Win on the football field. These guys think winning the social media battle is more important than winning games.

I wish they would explain this hotboyz lifestyle. Guess you have to be a millionaire. If so they need to make me one. I will wear the T-Shirt and everything. I would like my money tax free please.
From what I can tell the "Hotboyz" lifestyle consists of keeping your uniform clean as the other team beats you. Looking good and playing average in the HotBoyz way. Just ask Tank. How many sacks did he have this year? Did he even play this year or was he the designated IG poster for the HotBoyz?

Tank had 5 sacks this season. His salary was 11.1 million. So he averaged a little over 2 million a sack.

Maybe he should worry about producing and less about nicknames. Jaylon Smith also got extended and as a card carrying member of the HotBoyz he stayed true to the lifestyle and declined in production.

I hate that stupid nickname because it epitomizes the Dallas Cowboys. Recognition without any substance to back it up. They want a reputation without earning it.

Disgusting.

If this does not explain what is broken with this team's culture where the players spend more time and commitment to branding than winning actual games, nothing does.

But hey, they learn from the best branding experts out there with the ownership.
At least they learn from the best...
I mean, what if they were doing things because Matt Lesko was influencing them?
