76 Xavier Su'a Filo needs to be resigned. Guy who can do both!

They will use that vet money to pay Dak and Amari, possibly Byron. Go with the young guys in Williams, McGovern, Hyatt, and they like that Knight too.
Redmond is another player they seemed to like. and is a RFA I believe.

With those and possibly any player they draft. As it seems they always draft an OL in some round.

I think they let them test FA, and then sign them later if needed.
Agreed, except I really like Looney. To me, Looney is better than any of the backups.

Both Xavier Su'a Filo and Connor McGovern are sure to both be two of our most affordable backups on the team. It remains to be seen with some of the others like Robert Quinn and Byron Jones. It'll also should be fairly intriguing to see what happens with some of the more costly players like Dak and Amari Cooper. As always, the draft and free agency will also provide a fair share of those financially kind to our upcoming player additions. Cooper is also on record as stating he's in no rush to get his contract situation settled. One way or the other, it'll all be worked out.

How many interior OL do you need? You have McGovern coming back. You also have to keep Looney as he can play C unless you are planning on McGovern being the backup C.

I think one of Looney or Su'a is probably gone.

Is Looney a Free Agent?

That's the guy that should've started this year but they were more worried about the backup situation and forcing our 2nd rounder onto the field.

Looney is a starter in this league. Probably for the Giants next season.

Connor Williams played well.

People just don't know what they are watching around here. If you aren't fat, this board thinks you suck as an interior OL

Philbin is taking the Cowboys back to a ZBS scheme so I doubt XSF fits what he wants to do in the run game. Giants would seem like a natural fit for him.

McGovern may actually end up the starting LG with Connor Williams recovering from his knee injury. I wouldn't be surprised if the new staff looks at Williams as a T this season.

For a while as a rookie, he was thrown to the wolves but improved later in his 2nd year. The upcoming TC should be valuable in terms of assessing his value to the OL. If that doesn't go well, he could be assigned to playing OT, perhaps as a backup, if nothing else. He won't be trashed that easily.

I would imagine there has to be a team that would be willing to sign Looney to be a starter. Looney is a starting caliber player. Not great. But solid.

And there are teams out there hurting for interior OL starters.

He’s decent I agree.. Just not a mauler at all..

He’s solid in pass protection and pretty decent at getting to the 2nd level..

I’m just not a big fan of his @ guard but if we play him then it’s not some weakness..

I’m interested to see how McGovern looks because he’s a more natural interior guy.

I agree he should be utilized as a tackle. but he has no business playing guard.
