This a different generation of players than the ones Jlmmy Johnson was dealing with. They have different priorities, they have different values and they have constant access to different technology. MM has a harder job ahead of him to achieve what Jimmy achieved.

MM has to set the tone during camp
It’s the off season so not any team activities
But as much as players like promoting themselves the greatest promotion to any players brand is winning on the field

Our GM is getting hammered on his yacht instead of working the senior bowl. He does not give a crap about the team. If he did he would at least pretend to be a real NFL GM.

The people who need to be at the senior bowl doing the work are there. On one had you want Jerry to stay out of it and now you want him there?

As long as he has McClay and his staff there. Yall want him to be less involved and then complain when hes less involved.

When the owner decides he’s dealing with a competitive sports franchise and not a monument to how he rewards loyalty and loves his players.
That is one of the problem. Jerry is too loyal to his players and he expects that in return. The problem is that it is not a two way street nowadays.

I remember hearing from Jimmy Johnson's former players, stating that he'd call them into his office and tell them Jimmy's expectations Jimmy didn't want to hear about what the player had going on in his life. Including family, outside employment, and lifestyles. He'd tell them if it's not about "winning football games" then they can kiss all that other stuff goodbye.

I concur with Jimmy. I don't care about what these players do via Twitter and what self promotion they got hustling. All I care about is us winning a 6th Super Bowl. Everything else is "nonsense."

I hope MM will instill this same attitude in this team.

Preach!

Like yiu said, I only hope that McCarthy and staff can get through to these guys and set them straight.

You're dealing with a different generation of players. If Jimmy went back to coaching today his head would explode.

Today's players grew up with social media. They're going to use it to market themselves and see nothing wrong with it.

Many GM's are there. Our GM is not. He needs to hand the keys over to someone totally invested in being the GM.

The problem is we want him NOT involved at all. Don’t not go to the senior bowl and do normal GM work then use the 2nd round as his personal playground like he knows what he’s doing. He insists on having his hand in it somehow so he can take credit. In other words, he wants the credit but doesn’t want to put in the work or give up “power”.

He fired his adopted son Garrett, and brought in a real coach, who is allowed to hire his own coaching staff.
I think that qualifies that he cares.
And do you have personal knowledge he is getting hammered and not at the Sr. Bowl?

Oh, we all are pretty sure he has his JWB stocked, but that could be after the day is done.

Jerry is going to do what he is going to do. Cowboys have people there including McClay and that is the man Jerry trust and listens to. Sorry for the most part getting talented players in here as been an issue. Are there areas that still need to be addressed? sure and every other team has areas they need to address.

That is fine, that is how you feel then that is how you feel. Jerry is not going to bow down to what you or anyone else wants. It is a waste of time complaining over and over about something that is not going to change. McClay is there and has done a great job for this team and I fully expect him to continue. He is someone that jerry and Stephen listen to and I don't see that changing.

Could you imagine Jimmy's response to this HotBoyz crap. Also can you picture Charles Haley, Darren Woodson, Jim Jeffcoat, Ken Norton jr running around saying "we're the HotBoyz". I truly think Haley would have beat up anyone on the team for saying that.

But Haley doesn't know the HotBoyz lifestyle, he just knows 3 SB titles and being in the ROH.

Agree with all of this! Jimmy cut Swervin Curvin Richards the last game of the season before a SB run because he fumbled in mop up time. If you weren't helping the team, you were gone. This team uis embarrassing how it loves the Cowboy lifestyle without having to lift a finger winning wise.

I don't disagree but would add TO under contract was sent packing for his disruption as was Dez

Funny when Tex Schramm was here he left these things up to Gil Brandt. Tex was not the one going out and finding talent that role belonged to Gil.
