Alabama Safety Xavier McKinney I've been seeing him mocked to the Cowboys at #17 even by some expert drafts. For those that follow College Football in these same draft it had Delpit the LSU Safety around 21st to 22nd behind the boyz. My question I thought Delpit was rated higher ? anyone know much about the LSU Safety.

In what I've seen they've all had Delpit in the top 15 with McKinney going in the 2nd round.

Delpit had a shoulder injury this year that I think has hurt him
But good players
I’m hoping a DT is there at 17 but who knows

Delpit is a great athlete and uses that more than anything. He's less of an instinct guy than McKinney but more of a guy that reacts to plays and let's his athleticism take over. McKinney on the the other hand is not a great athlete but he makes up for it with "elite football intelligence." He's able to quickly dissect plays which allows him to get an early jump and be in the right spot to make a play.

I've seen a lot of mocks and some have Delpit rated higher and others have McKinney. They're all over the place with these two. There's really no major gap between the two in any area so it shouldn't surprise me. The only real advantage is that you can use Delpit in single Saftey coverage more often. Otherwise, they're pretty much the same.

McKinney just looks like a dime a dozen guy to me.

Is he a good player? Sure..

Will he have a big impact on games? I don't think so.

Yep Delpit has a tackling issue which sucks for a S and McKinney lacks range and is not great in coverage.

not a fan in the first RD,i would say some of the guys who went late in RD 2 last year were better than these 2.

Both good players, both HUGE upgrades on all our roster
If they didnt go to bama and LSU you wouldnt call them huge upgrades over Xavier Woods. Woods had a pff grade of 76 this year. Those two will come in and be "huge" upgrades over that? doubt it

Really starting to warm up to him...but, not sure him or Delpit warrant a top 20 pick.

Would love either in a trade down scenario.

I'd draft that Kyle Duggers kid before McKinney just don't like him

Same. This safety class in general is pretty bad.
Yet theres a solid few in FA. They really need to spend the money and bring one in...and if you're asking me, I dont have a problem if that's Coopers money. I'd rather improve the defense.

McKinney makes me think of what Stephan said when we traded down instead of drafting Eric Reid at 18 in 2013

We like the player, but 18 is too rich
