Does anyone have information on the enigma Randy Gregory?

Does anyone have information on the guy? Do you think he is in the plans for 2020?

I ask because this team is VERY thin on the DL. Having him will make a huge difference. That said, if he is not playing in 2020 they need to be done with him.

Hopefully they view him as a bonus and not as a given for 2020. Haven't seen Jack on him since last year rumors of reinstatement

Jerry is hoping the League Governance committee lightens upon the player's ganja use. For real.

Hopefully McCarthy says to drop the dead weight and move on from the culture of keeping oft suspended players.

Just me .....no news with him is bad news. The fact we haven't heard anything, zip, tells me he's done. Think about it, if he was done well, either he or his agent would gladly keep fans updated. The only reason he's still a Cowboy coz he's not costing us anything to leave him on the books.

Oh, so since you haven't heard about things the league does not announce, you think he's getting reinstated?

I'd bet that many indefinitely suspended players don't bother to show for drug tests. If he was in a situation where he met the league's requirements for reinstatement, he would have applied.

I assume he’s done till proven otherwise
And if he’s reinstated can you trust him

Wish him well in his personal life.

My understanding is that he applied but hasn’t been reinstated yet. They never replied this season. And I understand. His last suspension is 1 year. Then indefinite so I will would figure it would be at least a year before they reinstate him. With the trouble he has had I am only assuming but am figuring we would have heard about it if he failed or missed another.

Update: He's a waste of space.

Best guess.

The league hasn't lifted his suspension yet. You can't apply for reinstatement while your still on suspension. They have to give him a release date first. Suspended indefinitely means...we'll let you know when the time comes. Apparently that time hasn't came yet.

But what the hell do I know? I'm a forkift operator.

I could be wrong, but think the NFL and teams can be very tight lipped about reinstatements.

The league has nothing to announce, even if he failed a test. We only hear about failed drug tests from leaks and/or when the NFL announces suspensions. Randy is already suspended indefinitely.

Now, I’ll take you back a couple of years. There were numerous debates about what was stopping Randy Gregory from applying for reinstatement November 2017 when he could. Rumor was he hadn’t “failed a drug test” in something like 24 months. People speculated he was waiting for the season to end and then he was waiting for the new league year to start.

He finally got reinstated and played in the 2018 season. Well it came out during that season the reason why he didn’t file for reinstatement when he could is that he was in the process of hitting rock bottom, needed help and went into intensive therapy. This is the timeframe Stephen and Jerry no longer had the same public confidence in Randy’s return, but we weren’t getting any solid information. We could only speculate.

Same thing here, but don’t assume no news is good news.

Here is a link to the story they wrote during the 2018 season which references what they needed to do for Randy in the winter of 2017 when people assumed he was clean because they didn’t get news he failed any test.

until he gets reinstated he doesn't count against the cap, doesn't count against the roster limit, and doesn't accure any seasons

We're basically just holding the rights to him for no cost. That's why I laugh when people are like cut him it's like cut what ? We don't owe him anything until he gets reinstated

For some unknown reason I've always been pulling for the guy. The few games he played he wasn't bad, but he also wasn't a slam dunk future Pro-Bowler.

How many years can you stay away from the game & still maintain what it takes to be a pro? I mean he started out when Greg Hardy was on the team.

Still would be happy to see him back in camp, but I have my doubts.

I don't understand the infatuation with Reefer Randy. Its not like he's the missing link or something. Some act like he was suspended after having a 20 sack season.

You’re right. We don’t owe him anything, and I felt exactly like you did back in 2017. 2020 and I say drop his rights and move on.
