Does anyone have information on the enigma Randy Gregory?

I don't understand the infatuation with Reefer Randy. Its not like he's the missing link or something. Some act like he was suspended after having a 20 sack season.
It's a mystery to some of us who are pulling for him, too. Part of our Cowboys fandom maybe

Oh, so since you haven't heard about things the league does not announce, you think he's getting reinstated?

I'd bet that many indefinitely suspended players don't bother to show for drug tests. If he was in a situation where he met the league's requirements for reinstatement, he would have applied.

This! Trust me if he was really interested in getting back, he would be making some noise somewhere or at the ranch just trying to get someone's attention BUT not a word from him not a peep.

He was a horrible pick when we made it and remains so today. Not only doesnt he play, he was never all that good when he did play . Soft player . Soft and always suspended. In otherwords.....utterly useless to a team.

By now, it's far more than obvious that Goodell isn't exactly chomping at the bit to get Randy re-instated and for good reason. He's screwed himself.

He's made a joke out of the NFL's determination to eliminate the weed culture from its inclusion. Just when he seems on the path to cleaning up his act, he fails beyond miserably to show lasting signs of making his rehabilitation anything resembling permanent. At some point, it looks hopeless.

He probably fairly suspects by now that his ability to perform at the required level is fading with each day, week, month and year that passes. He's very gradually fading into obscurity, whether he's willing or unwilling to face it or not. He's had more than enough time by now to fade badly in his abilities to play. I seriously suspect his chances of a successful return anytime soon are minimal, at best. Sad but most likely, all too true.

With a new head coach and all the other coaching changes I doubt Gregory will be in the plans. His first five years were wasted battling pot addiction and he’s still suspended. His development has been severely stunted being away from the team. He knew the rules entering the league and he can’t live by them. All we ever talk about with him is his playing status and when and if he’s going to be reinstated. It’s beyond tiring! The Cowboys gave him every chance and it’s time to move on. He can’t be counted on and is a distraction. It’s been obvious since his rookie year that football isn’t that important to him.

He didn't even apply for reinstatement.

He doesn't want to play football.

Him, Taco and jury still out on Hill but that should have been 3 picks on the DL where we shouldn't be in the shape we are. And since talking weed David I. killed us too also.

You’re right. We don’t owe him anything, and I felt exactly like you did back in 2017. 2020 and I say drop his rights and move on.
Since there's no cost if he isn't reinstated this year they'll just wait and see if the new cba removes weed. If they do remove it they'll probably just reinstate him in 2021 and use him worst case scenario as cheap DE depth

The only thing he has proven thus far is that he cannot be trusted. While I truly wish it wasn't the case, since he was showing a lot of promise, I don't think we'll ever see him in uniform again, at least not an NFL one.

Hopefully McCarthy says to drop the dead weight and move on from the culture of keeping oft suspended players.

Hopefully, McCarthy doesn't value those types of players in the draft.

Like another poster said. He would be a bonus. I haven’t heard about him missing or failing any drug tests so he should be reinstated.

Yup! If I'm McCarthy, I make it clear to him that he best get himself reinstated if he wants to stay on the team. He can't be useful if he's constantly suspended.

I think there is a lot of misinformation about Randy Gregory. First is that his pot smoking is recreational. It has been reported that his pot smoking is more about his other mental health issues and that smoking pot is more like self-medicating. I have read that his bigger problem is his mental health issue, not marijuana use. He wants to play, but he wants to get healthy mentally first. Gregory is not a bad boy as many like to claim, or speculate. He is supposedly a decent person with a problem and he is putting his mental health issue before everything else. I, for one, hope he achieves stability in his life whether he plays football or not.

The Cowboys are trying to support him and his efforts to get well. I don't think they are counting on him coming back. If he does they will give him a shot to make the team. They owns his rights. If he doesn't, they lose nothing.

The mistake was drafting him in the first place. Frank Clark and Danielle Hunter were both available. But I suspect the Cowboys thought Gregory could have been better than both of those guys. They may have been right, but in the long run, having a guy on the field for 4 years beats a guy with potential serving suspensions for 3 of 4 years.

We still asking about randy gregory? He’ll be 28 later this year, which in the grand scheme is still young enough to find his footing in life, but his playing days are over. Even if they arent, he’s no longer the young phenom people thought he could be. Just start over with a 20/21 year old in the draft.
