A way to alert him of what pitch is incoming. I don’t know if I buy what they are selling here but anything is possible. I only knew of the banging of a garbage can behind the dugout.

if you know it’s off speed you can sit back and wind up... big leg kick and all.
If you know it’s a fastball you can start your swing early.

Listen to the pitchers.
They are telling you it dies matter.

there’s video of pitchers calling catchers to the mound after watching batter act like he knew pitch was coming,.. especially after hearing bang bang 3 different times during one at bat.
