News: Awuzie as a safety?

While poking around on the intrawebs, I came across this article from 10 months ago regarding switching Chido to safety. I’m not sure how reputable the website is and I’ve never heard of the writer, so take it however you will.

But... considering many folks here at CZ feel that Chido is a bad cornerback, it is an intriguing and compelling argument.

That's not a terrible idea at all. A pretty good argument can be made that the Cowboys should at least look into this based on that article.

Even though it wasn't obvious, the scouts thought Lewis was better outside and Awuzie would be better in the slot or at S. Our staff never picked up on this.

I'm deathly curious to see what the new staff does w/ Lewis. He's always been a fav of mine, and I've always been bewildered why he didn't play more. Is it truly due to him not playing well, or was it the stupid coaches? I'm not sure there was a coach on this staff I could truthfully say I trusted to utilize our players in the best way.

He’s got to play somewhere, might as well be safety

I wanted to be a Chido fan but I just don’t trust him as a CB

There’s no doubt Lewis will be starting somewhere imo. Lewis being a backup was pure incompetence by Garrett and his staff.

Since S's play w/ the play in front of them a lot, those problems wouldn't be as apparent at S.

I would too. And it'd make drafting easier since we could get a really nice CB.

The guy didn't look for the ball as a corner what makes you think he's going to change as a safety? Also fairly undersized as a safety.

As a safety he's more likely to keep the receiver in front of himself. He won't be blind as to the balls location. Could work.

This team has no idea what to do with DBs haha. #27 is a RCB period. Just like Byron was a CB from day 1. If Chido can't play the slot (his best position) idk what they should do with him.

People Safeties have different mentalities about tackling...that's why not all CBs can make that transition.

He played cornerback and safety at Colorado, it was one of the main reasons I thought he would end up playing the slot in Dallas.

LawNation has a good video breaking down his play after his rookie season and he made some great points about him being more effective at S or slot corner as well.
