Nah he just needs to slide to the slot and fill in outside with an injury. Thats why cb should be a play in round 1

Awuzi is another Kris Richard victim. IMO Kris coached the instincts out of our corners with how he coached them to play. Just think about it. Awuzi always seemed to be in the correct position according to the scheme and how our corners were supposed to play in that scheme.

And sure Byron Jones was a perfect fit for what Kris wanted to do but Awuzi was not and as a coach your job is to coach the talent not your beloved scheme. Everyone doesnt have a vertical comparable to Jordan in his prime. Adjust to the players on your roster should be a priority of every coach on the NFL level.

It was said coming out of college that Awuzi could possibly play safety so I wouldnt be surprised. I remember watching tape of the kid after we drafted him and considering the scheme he played in college I can see him as a safety. But whatever we do with the kid whether it be safety or corner......coach to his abilities not the scheme.

No

he lacks ball skills and never looks for the ball thats a horrible trait for your last line of defense
The guy didn't look for the ball as a corner what makes you think he's going to change as a safety? Also fairly undersized as a safety.
Safeties start every play looking into the backfield. Looking for the ball is part of the job.

Undersized? He's bigger than X.Woods. Faster than X.Woods. He's a better tackler than X.Woods. Putting him at FS would be his best fit.

I always wonder what happened with Awuzie. He was a better player before Richards got here and has faded. The chatter was Richards was gonna make Byron a stud and it seems that even Anthony Brown has faded too.

While poking around on the intrawebs, I came across this article from 10 months ago regarding switching Chido to safety. I’m not sure how reputable the website is and I’ve never heard of the writer, so take it however you will.

But... considering many folks here at CZ feel that Chido is a bad cornerback, it is an intriguing and compelling argument.

Enjoy... or don’t. Lol

no.

he was our second best corner, behind BJones.

I remember his rookie year he was looking jacked as a corner. Definitely had the build of a safety.

Never seen a CB be so close to defending a pass...every time.

Seriously? You have a short memory then. It's only been a couple of seasons ago.
Byron Jones finished his college career playing safety. We put him at safety then moved him to CB. Not the other way around. We haven't moved a CB to safety in awhile.

Wouldn't surprise me if he turned out to be a better safety. We screwed up the Byron Jones evaluation for years. He was a bust before we moved him to CB in year 4 of his rookie contract.
